Bialystok University of Technology was established in 1949. The University continues the rich tradition of higher education in Bialystok. It was created on the basis of infrastructure, academic staff and scientific achievements of other Bialystok universities: NOT Private Evening School of Engineering, Evening School of Engineering and Higher School of Engineering.
Currently, Bialystok University of Technology is the largest technical university in north-eastern Poland. Our mission is high-quality education of students and young scientists, conducting scientific research at the highest international level and commercialisation of research results. In cooperation with the economic environment we implement innovative technical solutions that affect the innovativeness of the economy. We also take action in response to social needs.
Almost 7 thousand students are currently studying at the 6 faculties of the Bialystok University of Technology. Our lecturers are practitioners and experts in their fields. Graduates of the Bialystok University of Technology are in demand on the national and international labour markets. They share their successes with the dynamically operating PB Alumni Association.
There are 66 student circles and organisations, Academic Incubator of Entrepreneurship and Selected New Technologies and Career Development and Alumni Relations Office.
The Bialystok University of Technology is a regional leader in research, development and teaching. Students and employees have access to the latest scientific achievements. In 2004-2021, PB implemented over 130 projects with a total value exceeding PLN 493 million.
Our University raises substantial funds for foreign exchange programmes. Thanks to active international contacts the University is perceived by foreign universities as a reliable and trustworthy partner. The Bialystok University of Technology, together with the Cracow University of Technology and Tianjin Chengjian University, co-runs the International School of Engineering at Tianjin Chengjian University. It is subject to the laws of the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Poland.
In 2021, the university became a partner of Xylopolis – the presentation of the Podlaskie Voivodeship at EXPO 2020 Dubai, which may become the International Centre for Science and Arts on the campus of the Bialystok University of Technology.
Bialystok University of Technology offers bachelor’s (3-year bachelor’s degree and 3.5-year engineering degree) and master’s (1.5 or 2-year master’s degree) studies. Dual degree programs are conducted with the largest employers in the region.

Our staff and students take advantage of the Erasmus+ international exchange programme, which enables them to travel to 280 academic centres around the world. Moreover, Bialystok University of Technology runs 20 double diploma programmes with universities in China, Belarus, Denmark, France, Spain, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Portugal, Russia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan.
The scientific activity carried out at the Bialystok University of Technology is developing along with the creation of new fields of study and specialisations, reinforcing the didactic process and providing a basis for scientific promotions. It is also reflected in own research, publication output, patent activity, grant projects, commercialisation and works commissioned by the industrial environment, cooperation with domestic and foreign centres, organisation of conferences and scientific seminars.
The Bialystok University of Technology is authorised to confer doctoral degrees in 8 scientific disciplines:
- architecture and spatial planning,
- automation, electronic and electrical engineering,
- biomedical engineering,
- civil engineering and transport,
- mechanical engineering,
- information and telecommunication technology,
- environmental engineering, mining and power engineering,
- management and quality studies.
The authorization to confer the degree of doctor habilitated concerns 5 disciplines:

The Bialystok University of Technology campus is located in Wiejska Street. The following faculties are located here: Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Mechanical Engineering, as well as the Academic Sports Centre, Student Dormitories and the Centre for Modern Education (map of the campus). The Faculty of Architecture is located in Oskar Sosnowskiego Street. Kleosin, which is very well connected with Bialystok, is the location of the Faculty of Engineering Management campus. Outside the Białystok agglomeration, in Hajnówka, located in the heart of the Białowieża Forest, the university operates a Science and Research Centre with laboratories of the Institute of Forest Sciences.
In 2010, the Institute of Innovation and Technology of the Bialystok University of Technology Sp. z o.o. was established to commercialise scientific research. After ten years of activity, in 2021, this special purpose vehicle of the Bialystok University of Technology gained the status of a Research and Development Centre. Combining production potential with the scientific potential of the university, IIT PB provides a laboratory for enterprises wishing to introduce technical innovations into their production.
The University successfully obtains funds from EU funds for the implementation of projects enriching its scientific and didactic infrastructure and improving the quality of the offered education. Among them, the Centre of Modern Education of the Bialystok University of Technology stands out, the implementation of which was co-financed from the European Regional Development Fund and the Operational Programme Development of Eastern Poland 2007-2013. The modern building of CNK PB has its seat: PB Library, Foreign Language Centre, Remote Learning Centre and Scientific Research and Development Centre. As part of the project Centre for Modern Education of the Bialystok University of Technology, a Science and Research Centre was also built in Hajnówka, which houses a 50-seat seminar room and a set of four specialist laboratories used by scientists of the Institute of Forest Sciences to conduct research on the forest environment. On the other hand, in October 2015, the university commissioned the “INNO-EKO-TECH Innovative Research and Education Centre for Alternative Energy Sources, Energy-efficient Construction and Environmental Protection at the Bialystok University of Technology” facility, which aims to modernise the university’s infrastructure and improve the quality of education by using modern ICT solutions in the teaching process.
Apart from a very good didactic base, we have excellent conditions for practicing sports. Sports classes are held in the hall, where you can play volleyball, basketball, football, table tennis and tennis, practice judo or aerobics.
