Privacy protection

Bialystok University of Technology (hereinafter called ‘the University’) considers it particularly important to respect the privacy of users of the Internet services administered by the University (hereinafter called ‘the Services’).
 

Data collection

All data from the University Services users are collected in two ways:

  • nformation provided voluntarily by the user – we ask users of our registration and contact forms to provide their personal data,
  • information automatically obtained while using the Services, including:
    • information in server logs – the user’s IP address, addresses of websites downloaded by the user, dates and times of connections, browser types, types of operating systems,
    • information collected by the Google Analytics tool in the process of monitoring website visit statistics,
    • text files (the so-called ‘cookies’) sent to the user’s computer when the user is visiting the website.

The controller of the data contained in the Services is Bialystok University of Technology.
 

How cookies work

  • Your web browser may store cookies on your computer disc. Cookies contain information necessary for the proper functioning of the Services.
  • The content of cookies does not allow user identification.
  • Cookies do not process or store personal data of users of the Services.
  • The University stores cookies on users’ computers in order to:
    • properly adjust the Services to the needs of their users,
    • remember the preferences and individual user settings of users,
    • create viewing statistics of the Services.
  • Users have the option of configuring their web browsers to completely or partially disable the storage of cookies on their computers’ hard drives. The effect of such a change may be the loss of the ability to use some of the functionalities of the Services.

 

Use of data

  • Data collected as part of our Services are used to provide specific services to our users, for administrative and statistical purposes, and to protect the Services.
  • The data can be also accessed by Google Inc. company (through the use of Google Analytics functionalities for statistical purposes) and by social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter (through the presence of content sharing plugins on websites).
  • As part of the Services, there may be buttons, tools or content directing to the services of other companies, for example: plugins of social networks (Facebook, Twitter or Google+), maps (Google Maps), films (Youtube). Using these applications may result in sending information about users to these other companies.
  • The data are also used for advertising (in the so-called ‘remarketing activities’) to match the advertising message to the preferences of users, including in advertisements of our external partners. This type of information is anonymous and does not contain any personal information.
  • On the basis of the information obtained in the Services, the University may make collective statistical statements, which may be made available to third parties. However, such statements do not contain any data allowing the identification of individual users.
  • The University makes it possible for users to exercise their rights resulting from Chapter 3 of the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (the so-called ‘General Data Protection Regulation’, GDPR) (Official Journal of the European Union, L 119, of 04.05.2016), in particular, the right to inspect their own data, the right to cancel at any time the consent to the processing of their personal data, the right to request data updates, and the right to object to the processing of their data in cases specified in the Regulation.

 

Personal data security

  • We do our best to protect the Services against unauthorized access by third parties.
  • The Services, however, contain links to other websites. We recommend you to read the privacy policies of these other websites after switching to these websites.

Changes in Privacy policy

If our privacy policy concerning the Services changes, we will inform you about it on this website. The current version of the Privacy policy was adopted on 4 March 2019 and has been applied since then.

Data Protection Inspector

Bialystok University of Technology has designated a Data Protection Inspector, who should be reached in all issues referring to personal data processing and exercising the rights in relation to processing of personal data.

Where information regarding processing of personal data can be found?

Bialystok University of Technology publishes information regarding personal data processing under each form through which personal data is collected.

Information includes the following:

  • the purposes of data processing;
  • the legal grounds of data processing;
  • the period we store your personal data;
  • if we disclose your personal data;
  • if we transfer personal data outside the EEA.

 
Your rights

You have the right to access your data, receive a copy of your data, and, within the regulations of the law, to:

  1. rectify your data,
  2. erase your data,
  3. restrict the processing of your data,
  4. transfer your data;,
  5. raise an objection against personal data processing,
  6. lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority – the President of Personal Data Protection Office if you consider that the processing of your personal data violates the data protection legislation.

The above rights can be exercised by submitting a written request to the controller of personal data of the University.
