During World Expo 2020 in Dubai, a presentation of Podlaskie Province was held, the key element of which was the Xylopolis exhibition. Bialystok University of Technology, as a partner of the project, contributed its creativity, modern technology and expert knowledge to its implementation.

The harmony of urban and forest ecosystems, technology and environment is the leading idea of Xylopolis, in which the activities of our Ambassadors at Expo 2020 perfectly fit.

From 2020, Assoc. Prof. Marta Kosior-Kazebruk, DSc, PhD, Eng is the rector of the largest technical university in north-eastern Poland. As a rector she wants to ensure the highest quality of education for students and young scientists. She puts great emphasis on internationalisation of the University – from student and PhD student exchanges to the international character of scientific research. She develops cooperation with industry in numerous research and development projects, emphasising the importance of using modern technologies with respect for nature. She considers the scientific and teaching staff, who often play the role of national and international experts, and students to be the great value of the University. Because they are the best ambassadors of the knowledge they gain within the walls of the University, they shape the future by creating innovative solutions. She wants to build and strengthen the potential of Bialystok University of Technology as a significant research and development centre in the region and in Poland.
Assoc. Prof. Marta Kosior-Kazebruk, DSc, PhD, Eng successfully combines the tasks she is faced with, as the person in charge of the University, with scientific and research activities. In the over 70-year history of Bialystok University of Technology she is the first female Rector.

Ewa Zapora, PhD, Assistant Professor in the Institute of Forest Sciences of Bialystok University of Technology
Specialises in the study of fungal activity from the Białowieża Forest, which are part of the Fungi Extract Bank created by her and scientists from Bialystok University of Technology. The database of extracts is based on, known and unique in Europe and the world, species of fungi.
This undertaking may be a starting point for cooperation, international R&D projects and further discoveries related to the use of fungi in medicine and economy. She will chair an expert panel on the Fungi Extract Bank as part of Expo 2020.

Karolina Sobolewska, Jakub Kondracki, Patrycja Lipska, Sara Kowalczuk-Fijałkowska, Agnieszka Skorulska are the future engineers whose project was recognised as the best concept for the temporary exhibition of the Podlaskie Province during EXPO in Dubai. Thanks to the work of these young people, a visualised presentation of our region was created, illustrating its links with wood, nature, culture and a futuristic vision of the future.

As many as eight Mars rover analogues have been created at Bialystok University of Technology. Their constructors, students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, presented them seven times in the prestigious University Rover Challenge competition in the USA, winning the first place three times. Since 2011, they have consistently ranked among the top ten best teams in the world constructing analogues of Mars rovers! During EXPO 2020 Dubai, the students will enhance the presentation with a demonstration of the capabilities of these extraordinary machines.

Founder of the largest Polish custom bike workshop. His bikes are owned by Slash from Guns N’ Roses, Michał Szpak or Aleksander Milwiw-Baron. Winner of the most important award at the world bike show in Las Vegas. In Dubai, he will present an interdisciplinary show using the award-winning and most phenomenal bikes from his studio. He will also lead presentations and workshops for children, showing the creative process of making unique bikes.
