SumoMasters on the podium at Robotex International 2024 in Tallinn
16-12-2024The representation of the SumoMasters section of the Robotics Student Association from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Bialystok University of Technology took part in the prestigious Robotex International 2024 competition held in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia.
Students Szymon Migowski, Sebastian Snarski, Łukasz Radziszewski, Hubert Targoński, Marcin Dziubek took two robots to Estonia to compete in the MegaSumo category. They named their machines Masakrator and Javelin.
All robots successfully made it through the first rounds.
However, in the finals, students from the SumoMasters section were defeated by the Lithuanian team (1st place) and the Romanian team (2nd place). In the end, Javelin won third place, and fourth place went to the Masakrator robot.
The supervisor of the SumoMasters section is Rafał Grądzki, PhD of the Department of Dynamic Systems of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Bialystok University of Technology.
The Robotex International competition in Tallinn, the capital of Estonia, is one of the most important robotics events in Eastern Europe. Many teams from different parts of the world have participated, including South Korea, Romania, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Turkey. Each year, the level of competition at these competitions is extremely high, making participation an excellent opportunity to test and improve new robotics solutions.
SumoMasters, a section of the Robotics Student Association at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of Bialystok University of Technology, was the only team in Poland to win the robotics competition at the Japan International All Japan Robot Sumo Tournament in Tokyo. Since 2017, no team from Poland has managed to repeat this success.
