We have completed the collection of goods for the school in Miedniki Królewskie. Thank you all for support!

For several years now, our University has been involved in collecting goods for the students and teachers of St Casimir’s Gymnasium in Miedniki. This is an important gesture of solidarity with our compatriots across the eastern border, who need help in almost every aspect of their daily lives: from food, clothing and school supplies to electronic equipment. Last year, nearly PLN 10,000 was collected. The collection involved students and teachers of the Bialystok University of Technology’s Academic Secondary School, university employees, as well as our alumni and the companies they manage.
– This year we managed to raise more than PLN 12,000, which is a great result. I am very pleased. Thanks to this, we will be donating two multimedia projectors to the school, which will certainly come in handy during lessons, as well as gifts for the children and teachers – says Wojciech Konopacki, Chancellor of Bialystok University of Technology.

St Casimir’s Gymnasium in Medniki is a small establishment that has been struggling to survive in a poor rural area for years. It currently has 52 pupils in grades 1-12. The school is distinguished by its more than 110-year history and the fact that it is the last bastion of Polishness in the predominantly Polish area of Vilnius.
On the other hand, Miedniki Królewskie itself is known for its well-preserved royal castle – reputedly the favourite residence of King Casimir Jagiellon and his sons, who stayed here with their guardian Jan Długosz. In the 15th century, the king’s son, Saint Casimir, the patron saint of Lithuania, lived here.
Transport of donations for the Polish school in Miedniki Królewskie will set off from Bialystok University of Technology on 9 February.
It is worth mentioning that our university also joined in the collection of aid for Ukrainians. On 26 January, warm clothes, duvets, batteries, candles and bandages were donated. The campaign was initiated by the Bialystok University of Technology’s International Relations Office (read more: Bus with donations for Ukraine set off from Bialystok University of Technology)
