15-12-2022
The agreement concluded between Bialystok University of Technology and Rezekne Academy of Technologies concentrates mainly on mutual support of education and research of students and academic staff, as well as the possibility of exchanging cultural experiences.
– We have been cooperating with Bialystok University of Technology for a long time, and have already carried out many projects together, – says Professor Iveta Mietule, Rector of Rezekne Academy of Technologies. – Now we are jointly preparing an international university project. This week, a number of employees from our University came to Bialystok. Bialystok University of Technology is one of the most important international cooperation partners for us. We have engineering faculties at both universities, and in the future we want to develop cooperation and create engineering study programmes together, because this is also economically important for Poland and Latvia.
The Latvian university is also our partner in the European Cross Border University project that is being prepared. This is a project linking ten European universities. It is focused on innovation, development, exchange of good practices and mobility. The ACROSS consortium, which, in addition to Bialystok University of Technology and the university from Latvia, includes eight more partners, assumes the development of the foundations of a unique European university, starting with the principles of university operation, through new educational programmes in the formula of double and joint degrees in English. It will also allow for the implementation of modern, effective educational methods in close cooperation with the socio-economic environment from the respective regions.
– Rezekne Academy of Technologies is one of our partners in the ACROSS consortium, – informs Assoc. Prof. Marta Kosior-Kazberuk, DSc, PhD, Eng, Rector of Bialystok University of Technology. – It is, like Bialystok University of Technology, a regional and border university. We have similar experiences and similar problems to solve. I look forward to an interesting and mutually attractive cooperation. We already have common experiences, and the signed agreement will strengthen our cooperation and will be a starting point for further forms of our joint activities.
Bialystok University of Technology and Rezekne Academy of Technologies cooperation will focus on:
exchange of information to ensure learning and research activities
joint organisation of meetings, symposia, seminars, workshops, conferences, cooperation days and other events
joint development of academic, scientific and other projects
publication of jointly written scientific or scientific-methodical papers and joint projects in scientific journals
cooperation in the development and implementation of joint study programmes
cooperation in lifelong learning
supporting the mobility of students, academic staff and employees.
This year Bialystok University of Technology, together with Rezekne Academy of Technologies, is implementing the project ADD-ON_SKILLS – Advanced Digital Design Course On Modern Buildings Developing SKILLS for Young Engineers. Four students from each of the following countries: Lithuania, Latvia, Italy and Spain came to our University as part of the International Summer School. Together with four students from the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences of Bialystok University of Technology, they started classes in the International Summer School Advanced Digital Design Course On Modern Buildings Developing SKILLS for Young Engineers on 4 July 2022. For 10 days, the students participated in 40 hours of classes that included laboratories, practical activities, individual work and design teams. In addition, they completed 40 hours of online classes – a minimum of four e-modules on energy, IoT, BIM, building efficiency, etc., a minimum of four e-labs with open online access.
As part of the summer school, participants visited Danwood S.A Białystok, PERI (Keynote, Company introduction in PERI company, Płochocin) and Unihouse Modular House Factory, Bielsk Podlaski.
Bialystok University of Technology has previously cooperated with Rezekne Academy of Technologies as a project partner at the Faculty of Engineering Management. The project name is DICCMEM – Development and Introduction of a Communication Competencies Model for Enhancing and Maintaining a Business Mentor Network”, project period: 01.10.2019 – 30.09.2021. The aim was to investigate communication competence barriers between mentors and mentees and to propose solutions to improve and maintain a network of business mentors using communication technologies.
A continuation of DICCMEM is the e-MentEdu Project, which aims to design and develop new professional qualifications to support lifelong learning. The partners will realise an educational package for e-mentoring by personalising the learning pathway in an online environment. The project leader is Rezekne Academy of Technologies (Latvia).
