Bialystok University of Technology Library has new magnifiers. The Accessible BUT 2.0 project
20-10-2025
Internationalisation and full accessibility of facilities and scientific materials are priorities embedded in the development strategy of Bialystok University of Technology. The three modern magnifiers that have just been installed in the BUT Library are advanced devices useful in working with academic literature.
– The magnifier is based on the Android system, so it is very intuitive and transparent – explains Aneta Puchalska, MA – Accessibility Officer at the Bialystok University of Technology Library. – It has an option for increased contrast as well as up to 64x magnification, so it is very useful for people with visual impairments. The magnifier also has a text translation function, which will certainly be helpful for international students when our journals and scientific articles can be translated by the device into English or German.
The magnifier also serves as a scanner, and the scanned text can be read aloud, even in the recipient’s language.
One of these devices has been placed in the periodicals reading room of the Main Library of Bialystok University of Technology, while the other two have been installed in the faculty libraries located at the Faculty of Engineering Management in Kleosin and the Faculty of Architecture at 11 Oskar Sosnowski Street in Bialystok.
– We invite everyone to use our devices – encourages Aneta Puchalska. – We offer help and support.
