Vice-Rectors and Deans of Bialystok University of Technology for the 2024-2028 Term

Prof. Marta Kosior-Kazberuk, DSc, PhD, Eng, Rector of Bialystok University of Technology, appointed the vice-rectors for the 2024-2028 term during a meeting held on 4 July 2024, in the conference hall of the rectorate. She had previously introduced their profiles and sought the University Council’s opinion.
– I am counting on good and intensive cooperation in implementing the Development Strategy of Bialystok University of Technology for the benefit of our University, which is developing very well – says Assoc. Prof. Marta Kosior-Kazberuk, DSc, PhD, Eng, Rector of Bialystok University of Technology. – Together, we will take care of the University’s staff, students, and doctoral students, ensuring everyone feels good, has their place, and has full opportunities for development.
– I will be responsible for acquiring and implementing international projects, particularly those oriented towards cooperation with the national economy, as well as national projects, including those carried out in consortia with industry – Assoc. Prof. Mirosław Świercz, DSc, PhD, Eng, Vice-Rector for Development of Bialystok University of Technology. – We will focus on expanding the university’s potential and transferring the results of our work to industry. This will provide additional funds for the University, supplementing the subsidy
The primary task of Prof. Marek Krętowski, Vice-Rector for Research, is the evaluation of the University.
– I hope we can improve our results – says Prof. Krętowski.
Bialystok University of Technology continues to modernise the quality of education.
– My main goal is to refresh the educational offer at our university – declares Assoc. Prof. Katarzyna Halicka, DSc, PhD, Eng, Vice-Rector for Education. – I also want to demystify the concept of educational quality so that it is not just associated with filling out spreadsheets by academic staff, but that everyone knows it is important to us. The most important thing is to work together with people and all the teams at the University to build modern education
Assoc. Prof. Dorota Krawczyk, DSc, PhD, Eng, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, declares further development of the University’s nationwide visibility in terms of internationalisation.
– A new challenge is the creation of a completely new consortium at the level of a European university in collaboration with eight other universities from across Europe – says Prof. Krawczyk. – This will bring a new quality in education, research, and cooperation between universities
Assoc. Prof. Jacek Żmojda, DSc, PhD, Eng, has been appointed Vice-Rector for Student Affairs at Bialystok University of Technology.
– I want to work with students and act as a bridge between their needs and the University’s capabilities – declares Prof. Żmojda. – I am thinking about increasing motivation for studying. Students should not be afraid of studying or the University’s staff. We are here to help them believe in their strengths, achieve their goals, and meet the learning outcomes defined by our University. I plan to create a university-wide platform or network for cooperation among students from different faculties, so they can support each other, form an academic community, and be competitive in the job market.

Assoc. Prof. Tatiana Misijuk, DSc, PhD, Eng, Arch., Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, plans to enhance the quality of teaching, enrich the curriculum, modernise programmes, and advance the professional qualifications and scientific development of the staff.
– We are considering launching a second-degree programme in graphic design – adds Prof. Misijuk. – My task is also to take care of students and their development, both mentally and physically
The Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences is already thinking about consolidating the Faculty.
– We have three buildings at 45 Wiejska Street and another research building in Hajnówka, and operating costs are soaring – notes Prof. Bołtryk – We will have to find savings, including in operating costs. We are very strong staff-wise, particularly in the number of habilitated doctors. We have 70 professors and 100 assistant professors. From October, we will start a titanic effort to further improve the quality of the three indicators considered in the evaluation of at least two disciplines to category A. This is within our reach; we are performing better in terms of grants and publications. We still need to work on indicator K3, which assesses the impact of research and science on the socio-economic environment, and we have a lot to do here
This academic year, we are launching three new study programmes, signing agreements with German and Estonian universities for dual degrees. We will significantly increase the number of international students. Currently, we have about 350 international students, which gives our Faculty the top spot in the country. I have a very good staff and well-chosen department heads, so I hope we can meet these challenges.
Assoc. Prof. Bogusław Butryło, DSc, PhD, Eng, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, plans to introduce and promote new study programmes.
– We want to attract as many students as possible who will be interested in new areas of knowledge – explains Prof. Butryło. – This includes industry digitalisation and electromobility. We have obtained funds to modernise our equipment base. I am looking forward to the greatest possible scientific development of the Faculty, so we can boast new doctoral students.
The Rector plans to build the Podlasie Centre od Computer Science, which would also become the headquarters of the Faculty of Computer Science.
– We dream of a new building, but we are, of course, developing very dynamically – says Assoc. Prof. Dorota Mozyrska, DSc, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science. – The number of students is increasing every year, and we are also thinking about developing new study programmes.
– I will focus on the development of my closest collaborators, but also priority will be given to research projects, including international ones, and the development of the Faculty’s infrastructure – declares Prof. Joanna Ejdys, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Management. – We will adapt the education offer to student needs and strive to meet their expectations, which will, of course, affect their position in the job market.
Changes will occur in the teaching at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
– We have obtained funding to modernise the mechatronics programme, and together with the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences and the Faculty of Engineering Management, we will be launching a new study programme – Transport, for which we have also obtained funding – declares Prof. Michał Kuciej, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. – We will continue the Regional Excellence Initiative Programme, which will make this Faculty even more interdisciplinary and scientifically connected with other Faculties, creating new scientific achievements.

Assoc. Prof. Jarosław Szusta, DSc, PhD, Eng, has been appointed the Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Cooperation with Enterprises and Business-Related Institutions.
– This will be a continuation of the activities I undertook as Vice-Rector for Student Affairs – explains Prof. Szusta. – During this time, I established many contacts with entrepreneurs and will want to encourage them to cooperate even more closely with the individual faculties of our university. I will encourage entrepreneurs to apply for EU funds jointly, for the implementation of various research and development projects, which we can perform very well thanks to our scientists and laboratories. I will encourage entrepreneurs to host our students for study visits, to show our students the companies where they can find employment as graduates. I also want our students to learn the latest technologies in a real environment, not from the internet or books, but in reality. We plan to have more practical study programmes at the University.
Assoc. Prof. Agnieszka Dardzińska-Głębocka, DSc, PhD, has been appointed the Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Accreditation and Certification.
– Every study programme undergoes mandatory evaluation by the Polish Accreditation Committee, but we also ensure that our programmes receive international accreditations, such as the EUR-ACE® Label, CIMA, and other prestigious certificates, – reminds Prof. Dardzińska-Głębocka. – I can assure you that I will pay attention to ensuring that the offered study programmes are of high quality and meet all European education standards.
