Assoc. Prof. Dorota Anna Krawczyk, DSc, PhD, Eng at the meeting of Ambassadors of the European Climate Pact
11-03-2024
– Under the slogan ‘Community Driving the Change’, more than 300 social activists engaged in climate action and promoting the idea of green transformation in their communities gathered in Brussels. Together we participated in interactive workshops and panel discussions, which could also be followed online – explains Assoc. Prof. Dorota Anna Krawczyk, DSc, PhD, Eng.
The event was organised by the Directorate-General for Climate action, which leads the European Commission’s efforts to combat climate change at EU and international level. The importance of the meeting was given by the presence of Maroš Šefčovič, a Slovak diplomat who acts as Executive Vice-President for European Green Deal and Wopke Hoekstra, European Commissioner for Climate Action. Both politicians were keenly interested in how the ambassadors of the European Climate Pact from different European countries propagate the principles of the Green Deal in their local communities.
– During two panel discussions, to which I was invited, I had the opportunity to talk about pro-ecological activities undertaken at Bialystok University of Technology. And we are doing and planning to do a lot! I presented the ideas of the project ‘My Green University’, which is an important element of the ‘Development Strategy of Bialystok University of Technology for 2021-2024 with the perspective of extension to 2030’, and which is our way to implement the sustainable development strategy. Let me remind you that as part of this project, we planted new trees and shrubs on our campus. However, there will be much more of this type of activity, because the project also assumes, among others, an increase in the share of renewable energy in the total energy consumption at our university and sustainable scientific research. In April – as part of the Baltic University Programme, a network of 90 universities from the Baltic Sea region, which includes Bialystok University of Technology – we plan to organise a seminar on sustainable development. I am proud to emphasize that thanks to my presentations at the meeting of Ambassadors of the European Climate Pact, information about the activities undertaken at Bialystok University of Technology was available on the websites of the European Commission. Here you can see, among others, an invitation to the Open Day of Bialystok University of Technology, as part of which many presentations related to sustainable development are planned – says Assoc. Prof. Dorota Anna Krawczyk, DSc, PhD, Eng.
