Wampiriada 2023: Three days of blood donation at Bialystok University of Technology

05-12-2023

The winter edition of the ‘Wampiriada – student voluntary blood donation’ is underway. You are invited to take part in the event, during which you will be able to donate blood on an honorary basis and register as a potential stem cell donor. The event at universities in Bialystok will last until 20 December 2023.

The BUT Independent Students’ Association and the Regional Centre for Blood Donation and Haematology in Bialystok are once again inviting people to donate blood. A healthy person aged between 18 and 65 who weighs more than 50 kg can become a blood donor. In order to donate blood on an unpaid basis, it is necessary to bring a document with a photo and PESEL number.

During the event, special bloodbuses will park at Bialystok University of Technology three times:

  • 06.12 (Wednesday) – Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (WM) from 8:30 to 14:30
  • 12.12 (Tuesday) – Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences (WBINŚ) from 8:30 to 14:30
  • 20.12 (Friday) – Faculty of Engineering Management (WIZ) from 9:00 to 14:00

There are additional prizes waiting for every blood donor!

It is worth donating blood as it is a priceless medicine that has not been synthetically produced despite advances in science. It is indispensable not only for accident victims, but also for people suffering from a number of serious diseases. Transfused and administered in the form of processed preparations, it saves lives and improves health.

Each blood donor should:

  • have an identity document with photo and PESEL number;
  • drink about two litres of liquids on the day before donating blood;
  • have a good night’s sleep;
  • eat a light meal;
  • limit smoking;
  • not donate blood if he/she has a cold or is taking medication;
  • not donate blood after drinking alcohol.

Join the donation! Share the priceless gift of life.
