Bialystok University of Technology ranked in QS Europe University Rankings 2024

First place in Poland and 24th in Europe in the category Inbound Exchange Students – this is the result of Bialystok University of Technology in the prestigious QS Europe University Rankings.

 

On 20 September 2023, the results of the international QS Europe University Rankings 2024 were published. This is the first time ever QS ranking focused exclusively on European universities. The list comprised 688 universities from 42 European countries, including 33 universities from Poland.

Oxford University came in first place, followed closely by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Zurich, and in third place was taken by the University of Cambridge. Seven of the top ten universities in Europe are located in the United Kingdom. Among Polish universities, the highest score was achieved by Warsaw University (92nd place), Jagiellonian University (122nd place) and Warsaw University of Technology (211th place).

Bialystok University of Technology ranked 551-600 in Europe. In the ranking of universities from Eastern European countries, Bialystok Technical University was ranked 81st. Nationwide, the university from Podlasie was ranked 24th out of 33 Polish universities included.

Bialystok University of Technology performed well in the various categories of the list. It has the 1st place in Poland and 24th in Europe in the category of inbound exchange students. Bialystok University of Technology also fared high among Polish universities in outbound exchange students (8th position), citations per paper (8th position), employment outcomes (8th position).

In the QS Europe University Rankings, the most important indicator, with a weight as high as 30%, is the university’s recognition among academic staff (Academic Reputation). The ranking also counts for the university’s reputation among employers (Employer Reputation), with a weight of 15%. Other important indicators, each with a weight of 10%, are the number of citations of scientific publications by university staff (Citations per Paper) and international research cooperation (International Research Network).

  2. Papers per Faculty – 5%,
  3. International Faculty – 5%,
  4. International Students – 5%,
  5. Sustainability – 5%,
  6. Employment Outcomes – 5%,
  7. International Student Diversity – 5%,
  8. Outbound Exchange Students – 2,5%,
  9. Inbound Exchange Students – 2,5%.

The entire ranking included 17.5 million publications, 141.6 million citations, 2.1 million respondents in the reputation survey among academics, while there were 617,000 respondents among employers. The publication and citation data are from the Scopus database and were downloaded in February 2023 for the period: publications 2017-2021, citations 2017-2022.
