Assoc. Prof. Tatiana Misijuk, DSc, PhD, Eng, Arch – the new Dean of the Faculty of Architecture of Bialystok University of Technology
01-09-2023
– This is an honour for me. I also regard the appointment as the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture as a challenge and an obligation to both continue and develop the activities of the Faculty to date. I will do my best to fulfil this task, – said Assoc. Prof. Tatiana Misijuk, DSc, PhD, Eng, Arch.
Throughout her nearly 25 years of research and teaching work, she has become well acquainted with the specifics of the Faculty of Architecture, study programmes and its structure.
– In 1973, the Rector of Bialystok University of Technology of the day, Professor Tadeusz Bełdowski, stated that architecture was a field of study that would ennoble a technical university. With this conviction, he initiated the process of establishing the current Faculty of Architecture. We will soon celebrate the 50th anniversary of its establishment, which I think will be a great opportunity to learn about and highlight the rich history and tradition of our unit. It is also worth emphasising that we are the only Faculty of Architecture in the north-eastern part of Poland. We represent two disciplines: architecture and urban planning, which belongs to the field of engineering sciences, and the discipline of plastic arts and art conservation, which is related to the field of arts. Both received a B+ category during the last evaluation. We will make every effort to not only maintain these categories, but also to strengthen them. Our task will be to implement the guidelines resulting from the Polish Accreditation Committee reports for all faculties, – stresses Assoc. Prof. Tatiana Misijuk, DSc, PhD, Eng, Arch.
Among her priorities and goals, the new dean mentions: consolidating the coherent activities of all faculty members and expanding cooperation with the socio-economic environment.
– I plan to organise regular meetings with the heads and employees of individual units, support the activities of student scientific circles and the Student Government. I would also like to expand the current formula of the Gallery of the Faculty of Architecture, which should be a cultural venue for the exchange of experiences, a place to promote our activities and maintain contacts with other creative centres, – announces Assoc. Prof. Tatiana Misijuk, DSc, PhD, Eng, Arch.
The closest collaborators of the new Dean of the Faculty of Architecture will be Magdalena Toczydłowska, PhD as Vice-Dean for Education and Student Affairs and Adam Jakimowicz, PhD, Eng, Arch as Vice-Dean for Development and Cooperation.
– I am committed to improving the quality of education, which involves raising the qualifications of the staff and a consistent, long-term personnel policy ensuring generational continuity. It is also extremely important to continue the promotional activities of the Faculty – emphasises Assoc. Prof. Tatiana Misijuk, DSc, PhD, Eng, Arch.
The Faculty of Architecture is preparing two key events. These are the East Design Days, this year’s sixth edition, which will be combined with the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the interior design field of study. The celebrations will take place on 12 – 13 October 2023.
– East Design Days have already made a name for themselves. This year, the largest meeting of architects, urban planners and designers in north-eastern Poland will be accompanied by a cross-sectional exhibition of the creative output of the staff and students of the interior design field of study, as well as meetings with interesting guests and graduates of the Faculty. Join us for the celebrations! – invites Assoc. Prof. Tatiana Misijuk, DSc, PhD, Eng, Arch.
