Intent letter with TRUMPF Huettinger Sp. z o.o. on the provision of research services and joint activities for the improvement of electrical and electronic knowledge

Bialystok University of Technology has signed an intent letter with TRUMPF Huettinger Sp. z o.o. This is an opportunity for the development of joint scientific and research work or professional internships and the completion of diploma theses by students of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of Bialystok University of Technology.

 

On 27 April 2023, an intent letter was signed at Bialystok University of Technology with TRUMPF Huettinger Sp. z o.o. on the provision of research services and joint activities for the improvement of electrical and electronic knowledge, particularly in the areas of power electronics, electronics, programming and automation.

 

It is a large, international, innovative company which is a leader in Poland in the area of very modern power electronics, – says Assoc. Prof. Mirosław Świercz, DSc, PhD, Eng, 1st Deputy Rector, Vice Rector for Development. – As a university, we have a strong representation in this area, but we would also like our contacts with modern industry to be as good as possible. Students of Bialystok University of Technology will be able to apply for internships, apprenticeships at the company, we want to complete theses with topics that meet the needs of the company and are formulated, come from the company. We will try to apply for some joint research and development projects. These are doors that will undoubtedly improve both the quality of education and the modernisation of research carried out at the university.

TRUMPF Huettinger Sp. z o.o. has long had a close relationship with Bialystok University of Technology.

Our R&D department already employs very good engineers educated at Bialystok University of Technology, – emphasises Marcin Żelechowski, PhD, Eng, Director of the Research and Development Department of TRUMPF Huettinger Sp. z o.o. – In addition, we have already cooperated with Bialystok University of Technology on implementation projects, the results of which have also contributed to the development of our company. One of the jury members of the competition for the best doctoral, master’s and engineering thesis, which is organised by our company, is Prof. Andrzej Sikorski from Bialystok University of Technology.

Formalising the cooperation will provide the opportunity for students of Bialystok University of Technology to take part in internships encouraged by our company. Above all, we want to show young people educated at Bialystok University of Technology, through the organisation of various events, including visits to our company, that our company, the Polish branch of TRUMPF Huettinger, grew out of Polish roots and is still based on Polish technological thought. Our employees are educated in Poland, the founders were also Polish professors and PhDs. We want to show these young people that such a technologically advanced company operates in Poland and has one of the largest research and development departments in the country, focused precisely on power electronics. We design and then manufacture world-class power systems for the semiconductor sector and many other industries.

TRUMPF Huettinger’s Polish division focuses on the design and manufacture of power supplies for plasma processing. Plasma processing is the process of depositing, among other things, thin layers, counted in nanometres, of one material onto another. And these are the processes thanks to which manufacturers around the world can produce semiconductors, photovoltaic panels, touch panels, architectural glass and much more.

In the intent letter, the company declares:

  1. to acquaint the employees and students of Bialystok University of Technology with the practical aspects of the production being carried out, with the exception of matters covered by the secrecy of the company within the meaning of the provisions of the Act on Combating Unfair Competition;
  2. to admit students of Bialystok University of Technology for professional student internships and cooperation in the completion of diploma theses, under the terms and conditions agreed separately by the Parties;
  3. to assist Bialystok University of Technology in equipping teaching and research laboratories, under terms and conditions agreed separately by the Parties;
  4. to assist Bialystok University of Technology employees in solving technical problems related to scientific research, on terms and conditions agreed separately by the Parties;
  5. to act for the implementation of new technical solutions and products developed at Bialystok University of Technology;
  6. to initiate joint research and development projects;
  7. to initiatr joint activities to promote electrical and electronic knowledge, particularly in the area of power electronics, electronics, programming and automation.

Representatives from TRUMPF Huettinger Sp. z o.o. visited the Research Laboratory of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, where they learnt about the “Reconfigurable 270V -28V d.c. aircraft power system” – the project was presented by Krzysztof Kulikowski, PhD, Eng and Prof. Andrzej Sikorski, the Laboratory of Power Electronics Converters in Renewable Energy Sources, IET 1/28, by Krzysztof Dmitruk, PhD, Eng and the High Voltage Technology Laboratory in the Research and Experimental Centre under the supervision of Jarosław Wiater, PhD, Eng.
