Bus with donations for Ukraine set off from Bialystok University of Technology

A bus filled with gifts for the people of Ukraine set off from Bialystok University of Technology on Thursday (26.01) morning. Goods had been collected at the university since November, and the collection campaign was initiated by the BUT International Relations Office.

The bus, packed to the brim, left at 8:00.

– We have an appointment at the border crossing in Barwinek, and will be there around 4 p.m. – said BUT Chancellor Wojciech Konopacki, who set off with the driver just before departure. – Volunteers will come to us from that side, we will repack things from one bus to another and their car will return to Ukraine via Slovakia. – he added.

– At the university, we collected warm clothes, quilts, batteries and candles. The campaign was initiated by the BUT International Relations Office. We were also helped by one of our Ukrainian students, Natalia Liuklian, who put us in touch with volunteers on the other side. – explained Wojciech Konopacki.

On their way back, the BUT staff will visit friends at Rzeszow University of Technology and return to Białystok on Friday morning.
