Bialystok University of Technology Day 2022. A myriad of medals and honours

While opening the ceremonial meeting of the Senate of Bialystok University of Technology for the 16th term, Assoc. Prof. Marta Kosior-Kazberuk, DSc, PhD, Eng, Rector of Bialystok University of Technology, said:
The past year was a good one for us, despite the many surprising and difficult circumstances we had to face.
We have had many successes: first of all – the evaluation of scientific disciplines was successful. We continue to increase the number of highly qualified staff, students – members of scientific circles have achieved numerous successes in competitions in national and international competitions, after the pandemic we returned to intensive international cooperation, the circle of our partners from the socio-economic environment is significantly increasing, the recognition of our university through its presence in the world rankings is increasing.
All this would not have been possible without the commitment, passion and daily hard, diligent work of our entire community.
This year we have a record number of people awarded and honoured. I sincerely congratulate all of them and thank them for their activity for the benefit of the University hoping for further effective work.
Special congratulations, on obtaining the title of professor by virtue of the nomination act of the President of the Republic of Poland, were received by Prof. Jolanta Pauk, DSc, PhD, Eng, professor of engineering sciences in the discipline of biomedical engineering, and Prof. Ewa Roszkowska, DSc, PhD, professor in the field of social sciences in the discipline of economics and finance.
During the Bialystok University of Technology Day, the solemn oaths of office were taken by teachers with the DSc (doktor habilitowany) and the PhD (doktor) degree, who were awarded academic promotions at our university in 2022.
The Senate of Bialystok University of Technology, on the basis of resolutions of the relevant university Councils of Scientific Disciplines, decided to confer the degree of Doctor of Science to:

- Krzysztof Kamil Żur
Tomasz Teleszewski, DSc, PhD, Eng is an employee of the Institute of Environmental Engineering and Energy at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences. The subject of his postdoctoral proceedings was an achievement in the topic “Intensification of heat transfer in heating devices and improvement of thermal insulation of heat transport ducts”.
Krzysztof Żur, Dsc, PhD, Eng is an employee of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. The subject of the postdoctoral proceedings was the scientific achievement entitled “Analytical and numerical solutions of selected problems of mechanics of functionally gradient plates at macro, micro and nano scales”.
Congratulations on receiving postdoctoral degrees under resolutions adopted by other scientific units were also received by Michal Kondrat Krzysiak, DSc, PhD, and Grzegorz Świderski, DSc, PhD, Eng.
Last year, the Senate of Bialystok University of Technology, on the basis of resolutions of the relevant university Scientific Discipline Councils, decided to confer doctoral degrees to ten persons. During the ceremony, the solemn oath was taken by:

The Bialystok University of Technology Alumni Association awarded the titles of Bialystok University of Technology Golden Alumni. These awards were given in 4 categories: Science, Inventor, Manager, and Sports, Arts and Other Achievements.
In the Science category, the title of Golden Alumni went to Stanisław Łuniewski, DSc, PhD, Eng, assoc. prof. of the L.N.Gumilyov Eurasian National University. In the Inventor category, the title of Golden Alumni went to Piotr Borkowski, PhD, Eng. The young athlete Marlena Granaszewska, BSc was awarded in the Sport, Art and Other category. In the Manager category, the title of Golden Alumni was awarded to Assoc. Prof. Marta Kosior-Kazberuk, DSc, PhD, Eng.
The ceremony was an opportunity to award winners of Bialystok University of Technology competitions.
The winners of the Competition for the Best Student of Bialystok University of Technology in the 2021/2022 academic year were:
- Jędrzej Zalewski, student of graphic design at the Faculty of Architecture (his arithmetic mean was 5.0),
- Marta Bolińska, student of environmental engineering at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences (arithmetic mean 5,0)
- Gabriela Druć, student of electrical engineering at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (arithmetic mean 4,94)
- Piotr Grusza, student of computer science at the Faculty of Computer Science (arithmetic mean to 4,98)
- Angelika Remiszewska, student of logistics at the Faculty of Engineering Management (arithmetic mean 4,99)
- Dominika Iwan, student of biomedical engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (arithmetic mean to 5,0).
The winners of the Competition for the Best Doctoral Student of Bialystok University of Technology in the academic year 2021/2022 are:

The winners of the first edition of the Competition for the Best Teacher were also awarded. The idea of the Student Self-government of Bialystok University of Technology was to recognize academic teachers who were rated highest by students for their involvement in the educational process.

Employees of Bialystok University of Technology also received state and departmental medals and awards.
The President of the Republic of Poland awarded the Gold Cross of Merit for services to the development of science to Prof. Dariusz Józef Butrymowicz, DSc, PhD, Eng.
54 employees of Bialystok University of Technology received Long Service Medals awarded by the President of the Republic of Poland at the request of the Minister of Science and Higher Education. These medals are for exemplary and exceptionally conscientious performance of duties resulting from professional work in the service of the State.

Stanisław Piątkowski, MSc was among the retired employees. His services to Bialystok University of Technology were particularly appreciated and he was awarded the medal of merit.
Stanisław Piątkowski, MSc, has worked at Bialystok University of Technology for 41 years. Since 2008 he has been the head of the Academic Sports Centre. For many years he was a senator of the university and a member of the university’s committees: for student affairs and didactics, for quality of education, the Rector’s committee on changes to the university’s statutes and the anti-mobbing commission. He was a coach of the Academic Sports Club (AZS) of Bialystok University of Technology, and his students won top positions in the Podlaska Akademicka Liga Międzyuczelniana (Podlasie Interuniversity Academic League) and the Academic Championships of Poland. As a long-standing activist of the Solidarity Trade Union, in which he held the positions of secretary and chairman, he contributed to solving many remuneration and social problems at the University.

On 1 December 1949, the Ministry of Education issued a letter allowing the Polish Federation of Engineering Associations (NOT) to establish and run the Private Evening College of Engineering in Bialystok. Two years later, the school was renamed the Evening College of Engineering. In 1964, having obtained the right to conduct full-time studies, the school changed its name to the Higher School of Engineering. After ten years, it was transformed into Bialystok University of Technology (Politechnika Białostocka).
Today Bialystok University of Technology is not only the largest technical university in northeastern Poland. It is a brand itself, value, tradition and modernity.
The six faculties of Bialystok University of Technology currently educate 7,480 students and 118 students in the Doctoral School. The university employs 1,380 people.
