On 10-14 October 2022, the academic community of Bialystok University of Technology celebrated Erasmus Days. This is a cyclical event promoting our university’s participation in the Erasmus+ programme and projects implemented in cooperation with foreign partners. This year’s Erasmus Days are exceptional, as they are linked to the 35th anniversary of the Erasmus+ programme.

Bialystok University of Technology has been participating in the Erasmus programme for over 20 years, gaining considerable funds every year to finance the mobility of students, doctoral students, teachers and administrative staff of the University, but also for a number of other activities, such as inviting foreign lecturers to visit us, as well as for various integration projects. – emphasised Assoc. Prof. Marta Kosior-Kazberuk, DSc, PhD, Eng, Rector of Bialystok University of Technology.

For years, Bialystok University of Technology has been one of the leaders in raising funds for academic mobility and other forms of international cooperation. It is currently implementing five learning mobility projects for a total amount exceeding EUR 2.8 million, as well as nine international projects under Erasmus+ Action 2, with a value exceeding EUR 3.2 million. These projects enable our students and staff to study, train and work abroad. We also enter into international partnerships to develop, transfer and implement innovative educational practices at European level.

Erasmus Days, celebrated at Bialystok University of Technology, were an opportunity to encourage students, doctoral students and employees of Bialystok University of Technology to become even more active in taking advantage of trips abroad and exchanging experiences from stays at partner universities abroad.

Erasmus+ is a special programme because everyone who took part in it was happy to do so. It is a friendly programme that benefits the student, the staff member, but also the university. Participation in it fosters the development of each of us! – emphasised Assoc. Prof. Marta Kosior-Kazberuk, DSc, PhD, Eng, Rector of Bialystok University of Technology.

Erasmus+ is the most popular and effective EU programme supporting the internationalisation of universities. In the winter semester of the 2022/2023 academic year, 70 students of Bialystok University of Technology decided to go on an Erasmus+ trip. In contrast, 182 foreign students chose to study at our university.

Erasmus Days at Bialystok University of Technology

During Erasmus Days at Bialystok University of Technology, which lasted from 10 to 14 October, numerous meetings were held at information stands in individual faculties, presentations aimed at various groups of beneficiaries of the Erasmus+ programme and many other attractions. The programme of the event was prepared by the staff of the International Relations Office of Bialystok University of Technology.

Students and employees of our university could learn:

  • about the possibilities of mobility (for studies/internships/training/teaching purposes),
  • which countries to go to and under what conditions,
  • how much of a scholarship one can receive,
  • what the mobility procedure looks like (necessary documents, language exams, deadlines),
  • when to start applying for mobility in order to complete the formalities in time.

From Monday to Wednesday, information stands appeared at the faculties of Bialystok University of Technology, where students could find out where to go on a foreign exchange and why it is worth it.

On Thursday, presentations were held to introduce the practical side of the Erasmus+ programme. Polish students interested in international exchange listened to accounts of their colleagues from trips abroad. They also learned how to prepare for the trip in terms of language and formalities. On the other hand, foreign students already at Bialystok University of Technology met representatives of the Police, Border Guards and Fire Brigade, and practised everyday phrases in Polish during the ‘Polish your Polish’ language workshop. In the afternoon, academic staff listened to presentations on mobility opportunities and projects currently being implemented at the university as part of the Erasmus+ programme.

And on Friday (14 October), the BUT International Relations Office invited everyone to an Open Day full of sweet surprises!
