Michał Chojnowski, a graphic design student at the Faculty of Architecture of BUT since October, won the silver medal at the European Shooting Championship in Wroclaw. On a daily basis, the young shooter trains at KS Kaliber Bialystok under the guidance of Paweł Piertuk.

Michał Chojnowski won the title of European vice-champion in the Rifle 3 Positions Team event together with contestants from Wroclaw and Tarnow – Maciej Ogórek (WKS Śląsk Wrocław – Shooting Section) and Wiktor Sajdak (TKS LOK Tarnow). The Polish trio was only beaten by the team from France scoring 17:9.

– We did want to win gold, but nobody’s complaining about silver – jokes Michał Chojnowski. – In the gold match, even though we managed to even the score out at first, the French would not let us score any points later on and started to gain the upper hand.

It is worth noting that it was the first time for the three Polish shooters to compete together in this line-up. Despite this, they finished the qualification stage in the first place, as tournament leaders.

– We showed them what we’re made of. At the time, France was a few points behind us. Wiktor Sajdak himself scored impressive 297 points, meaning he lost only 3 in total – added Michał Chojnowski. – I’m happy we’re going to the World Championship in Cairo in October with the same line-up.

The junior championships took place from 12 to 17 September 2022. After the outbreak of war in Ukraine, the competition was moved from Moscow to Wroclaw.
At KS Kaliber, Michał Chojnowski trains under the guidance of Paweł Pietruk, who is also the youngest coach of the national senior shooting team.
