12-09-2022– You can find the ARWU and TOP 10 indicators in the bibliographic description of a publication in the “internal identifier” field. It’s a local field that has so far been used by staff of the Scientific Information Department of Bialystok University of Technology Library to introduce information concerning inclusion of a publication to the assessment of an employee for a given period – explains Elżbieta Kierejczuk, MA, Director of the Bialystok University of Technology Library.
ARWU, the Academic Ranking of World Universities, also referred to as Shanghai Ranking, was developed in China by the Centre for World-Class Universities (CWCU) of Jiao Tong University in Shanghai. It was first published in June 2003 and it has since been updated annually. ARWU uses six indicators:
- number of alumni winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals
- number of staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals
- number of highly cited researchers selected by Clarivate
- number of articles published in journals: “Nature” and “Science”
- number of articles indexed in Science Citation Index Expanded™ and Social Sciences Citation Index™ in the Web of Science™
- per capita performance of a university.
More than 2000 universities are ranked annually and the best 1000 are published. In 2022, 11 Polish universities were listed.
TOP 10 is a ranking of journals in Scopus database based on the CiteScore metrics, i.e. the result of dividing the number of citations of publications from the last four years by the number of the publications.
The ranking list features journals classified in their subjects according to ASJC (All Science Journal Classification) codes. The Highest percentile, indicator of between 90% to 99% qualifies a journal to be featured in the TOP 10 list.
The current ranking covering publications from the years 2018-2021 was published in May 2022.
