05-09-2022
Klaudia Sokołowska from Bialystok University of Technology at the European Universities Games 2022

It’s been a successful year for Klaudia Sokołowska, first year student at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences. In May, she won the gold medal in the general classification of AMP (Polish Academic Championships) in Karate WKF in female individual Kumite -55kg and she reached the quarter-finals of the European Universities Games 2022, a success our University hasn’t seen in years!

6000 athletes from 40 European countries took part in EUG 2022 which took place from 17 to 30 July 2022 in Łódź, Poland. Bialystok University of Technology was represented in female individual Kumite -55kg by Klaudia SOKOŁOWSKA. She also participated in team competition of WKF karate where she teamed up with two students of other universities. Although Klaudia was successful in both categories, the biggest applause is due for the individual category in which Klaudia defeated the current European vice-champion! Our athlete finished the competition at the quarter-finals level – among the athletes of our University no one made it that far.

In terms of the team category, Klaudia contributed to her team’s scoring of 7th place, which is also a great success.

  • Third fight – in the quarter-finals, against Marija Petrovska of St. Cyril and Methodius University of Skopje (Macedonia) – lost 0-1
