BUT CMS-08 racing car second at the Formula Student East in Hungary
17-08-2022
This year, students from Bialystok University of Technology from the Cerber Motorsport team have already taken first place in the Accelaration competition at the Formula Student Czech Republic.
– We won the acceleration competition in the Czech Republic – says Patryk Siekaniec, technical coordinator of the Cerber Motorsport team. – In several other competitions we managed to place in the top ten and five. In the Endurance competition, which is a faultless ride over a distance of 22 kilometres with a driver change in the middle of the distance.
In the general classification after the competition at the Hungaroring, the Bialystok University of Technology’s car CMS-08 took fourth place in the general dynamic competition classification, 17th place in the general static competition classification and sixth place in the general classification!
This season, the latest car of the students from the Cerber Motorsport team has already raced on tracks and was evaluated in Italy, the Czech Republic and Austria.
– We feel strongest in racing on the track – Michal Gleba, team coordinator of Cerber Motorsport, recalls the competition in Italy.
At the Formula SAE Italy, the CMS-08 car took 2nd place in the Engineering Design Event competition. The CMS-08 car ended with a win and 5th place in the general qualification at Formula SAE Italy and a double 4th place in the dynamic competitions.
There was no shortage of success in Austria either.
– Due to the prestige and the competitions we had to face, we took 6th place in the general classification and 5th place in the Endurance competition, the most important one, the one with the most points. We are very happy with the results – admits Michał Gleba.
In Hungary, the students of Bialystok University of Technology had to make instant decisions.
– During one of the trials, we noticed that the gearbox was not working as it should – recalls Gleba. – There was a problem with the second gear. Replacing the engine before the dynamic competitions would have involved doing a partial technical inspection again (during the events – acc and skidpad). Therefore, we decided not to change the engine so as not to take away the opportunity to compete. As it turned out we made a very good decision and despite the breakdown we took:
- 2nd place – Acceleration
- 3rd place – Skidpad
- 4th place – Autocross
- 5th place – Endurance
- 6th place – Efficiency.
On 17 August 2022, the Cerber Motorsport team with the CMS-08 car built at Bialystok University of Technology began competing in Formula Student Germany at the Hockenheimring. The competition will run until 21 August.
The authorities of the City of Bialystok support student travel to competitions outside Poland.
Subsidised by the Minister of Science and Higher Education with funds from the state budget as part of the programme ‘Studenckie koła naukowe tworzą innowacje’.
Technical specifications of the CMS-08 car:
