Grant in MINIATURA 6 call

04-07-2022
Joanna Samul
Joanna Samul, PhD from the Department of Management, Economics and Finance of the Faculty of Engineering Management of BUT, has won a grant in the sixth edition of the MINIATURA 6 call organised by the National Science Centre (NCN). She will use the funding of PLN 39,600 to develop and validate a tool for assessing spiritual leadership in virtual teams

‘Recently, the number of organisations working remotely has increased, accelerating the process of moving the traditional work team into the virtual sphere. Leadership in such teams has become part of almost every leader’s daily work. It has also revealed many new demands on managers: how to take care of themselves, their employees and the organisation, how to shape the behaviour and values of employees that underpin the organisation. This is particularly important in the case of a virtual team, where the leader’s influence on team members without face-to-face meetings or informal conversations over coffee is definitely more difficult’ – says Joanna Samul, PhD.

Joanna Samul, PhD is the author of more than 70 publications on human capital management and organisational behaviour, with a particular focus on the topic of leadership. For her project entitled ‘Development and validation of a tool for assessing spiritual leadership in virtual teams’, she received PLN 39 600 from NCN.

The funds will primarily be used to carry out preliminary research to develop and validate a tool for assessing spiritual leadership in virtual teams. Positive validation of the research tool – especially in the context of the new concept and construct of value-based ‘spiritual leadership’ and incorporating a positive and pro-social leadership perspective – is essential to organise and develop knowledge and increase the rigour of ongoing research.

MINIATURA 6 is a programme of the National Science Centre that supports scientific activities leading to the preparation of a future research project planned for submission to NCN calls or other national and international calls. The call is open to applications for the implementation of a single research activity carried out in one of the following forms: preliminary/pilot studies, library and archive searches, fellowships, research visits and/ or consultations. The duration of the scientific activity may be up to 12 months, with a maximum funding of PLN 5,000 to PLN 50,000.

In the sixth round of the Miniatura call, 56 applications worth over PLN 2.03 million were qualified for funding.
