Success of Bialystok University of Technology in QS World University Rankings: Europe 2026!
Bialystok University of Technology has achieved a spectacular success in the latest QS World University Rankings: Europe 2026, becoming the leader in internationalisation in Poland. The University ranked 1st in two key indicators related to international exchange: Outbound Exchange Students and Inbound Exchange Students.

 

This exceptional distinction confirms the strong position of Bialystok University of Technology in the field of international cooperation and its growing attractiveness on the map of European universities.

In this year’s edition of the ranking, the University was placed in the 561–570 band, and in the Eastern Europe ranking it moved up three positions to 73rd place. In the national classification, BUT also improved its result, advancing by two positions to 22nd place among 39 Polish universities. Importantly, Bialystok University of Technology remains the highest-rated university in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, confirming its position as the regional leader in higher education and innovation.

This year’s QS Europe ranking covered 958 universities from 42 countries, including as many as 291 institutions classified for the first time, making this edition the most extensive in the history of the ranking. In such a broad and competitive field, Bialystok University of Technology particularly stood out in areas related to internationalisation, confirming its strong position on the European academic stage.

Positions of Polish universities in QS World University Rankings: Europe 2026

In the QS World University Rankings: Europe 2026, the top European universities are: University of Oxford, which ranked 1st, ETH Zurich, placed just behind, and Imperial College London and University College London, which were ranked joint 3rd.

Among Polish universities, the highest-ranked institutions were: University of Warsaw – 113th place in Europe, Jagiellonian University – 126th place, and Warsaw University of Technology, which ranked 202nd.

QS University Rankings: Europe is a regional university ranking prepared by QS Quacquarelli Symonds and published since 2023. It was created in response to the need for a more detailed comparison of universities in the European context, taking into account the specific characteristics of the region. The ranking evaluates institutions in terms of research quality, academic reputation, internationalisation, academic mobility, and faculty–student ratio, among other criteria. It serves as a benchmarking tool supporting universities in analysing their competitive position and planning strategic development in Europe.
