Bialystok University of Technology moves up in the prestigious Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings

Bialystok University of Technology achieved the 4th-highest position among Polish universities and was placed in the 801–1000 band in the latest edition of the Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings. A total of 1,603 universities from 116 countries were included in the ranking, including 17 universities from Poland.

Our University submitted data for evaluation in six thematic areas related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

A significant improvement in the global ranking was recorded in SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities. We moved up from the 401–600 band to the 301–400 band among 865 universities worldwide. At the same time, Bialystok University of Technology achieved the 2nd-highest position among Polish universities (jointly with Silesian University of Technology).

We also significantly improved our score and position in SDG 15 – Life on Land, moving up from the 401–600 band to the 301–400 band among 658 universities worldwide. The result achieved by Bialystok University of Technology was the 2nd-highest among Polish universities (jointly with Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań).

In SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation, we were placed in the 401–600 band worldwide (among 797 universities), achieving the 3rd-highest position among Polish universities.

In SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy, we were placed in the 401–600 band (among 892 universities worldwide), achieving the 2nd-highest position among Polish universities.

In SDG 13 – Climate Action, Bialystok University of Technology maintained its position from the previous edition – the 401–600 band among 826 universities worldwide and the 3rd-highest position among Polish universities.

In SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, Bialystok University of Technology maintained its position in the 401–600 band among 1,610 universities worldwide. The University achieved the 2nd-highest position among Polish universities.

The highest-ranked university in Poland was the University of Gdańsk, while the global leader was the University of Manchester.

The Times Higher Education Sustainability Impact Ratings are a unique global ranking that measures universities’ contributions to achieving the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), established as part of the programme ‘Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development’. Bialystok University of Technology has participated in this comprehensive evaluation for the third time. The overall ranking is based on 17 separate SDG tables. Importantly, the methodology goes beyond analysing research achievements – it also evaluates actual initiatives, institutional policies and practical actions implemented by universities.
