On Thursday, 11 June 2026, researchers, executives and experts in science and advanced technology will gather at the EXPO XXI Centre in Warsaw for the second edition of the European Summit of Women Leaders in Science and Technology 2026. This year, Bialystok University of Technology serves as the official host and main organiser of the event.

The initiative, supported by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, is one of the most significant international forums dedicated to women in senior leadership positions across the STEM sector (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). Importantly, the Summit will take place alongside the 8th edition of the Perspektywy Women in Tech Summit 2026 – the largest European conference for women in new technologies.

Bialystok University of Technology at the Forefront of European Dialogue

The inaugural edition of the Summit was organised last year by Koszalin University of Technology. In 2026, organisational responsibility has been assumed by Bialystok University of Technology, enabling the University to actively contribute to international discussions on science governance and leadership structures in higher education.

Organising such a large-scale initiative is a new challenge for Bialystok University of Technology. Assuming the role of host in 2026 clearly reinforces the University’s position as an institution actively supporting the advancement of women in science, innovation and leadership – says Assoc. Prof. Katarzyna Halicka, DSc, PhD, Eng., Vice-Rector for Education at Bialystok University of Technology.

Objectives of the Summit: From Declarations to Concrete Action

The main objective of the European Summit of Women Leaders in Science and Technology 2026 is to establish a permanent, recurring platform for cooperation, enabling women leaders from the European Union, the United States, Central Asia and Arab countries not only to exchange experience but also to develop practical tools and formulate policy recommendations.

This year’s panel discussions will focus on two key thematic areas:

  1. Europe’s competitiveness in technological innovation, e-commerce and defence.
  2. New leadership models and the systemic changes required to improve women’s access to senior executive and decision-making positions.

The programme will also address the most pressing strategic technological challenges, including dual-use technologies (civilian and military applications), quantum and space technologies, deep tech funding, and the responsible deployment of artificial intelligence (AI).

Expected outcomes of the European Summit of Women Leaders in Science and Technology 2026 include:

  • Launch of the Peer-to-Peer Leadership Programme – an exclusive mentoring initiative for 20 women preparing for roles as rectors, CEOs or ministers.
  • Cooperation with EWORA – establishment of a long-term partnership with the European Women Rectors Association and the emerging Women Rectors Association, aimed at strengthening networks of women in senior academic leadership roles.
  • Policy Brief – preparation of an official recommendation document entitled “Europe – Land of Women in Science and Technology”, to be submitted directly to key European institutions, ministries and boards of global technology companies.
Who Is the Event For?

The European Summit of Women Leaders in Science and Technology 2026 will bring together 150 women leaders from across the world. Participants will include CEOs, university rectors, research directors and ministers. The programme will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions and networking sessions designed to foster cross-sector collaboration at the intersection of science, business and public policy.

The event offers a unique opportunity to observe how science, business and public policy together shape new standards for governing the modern world.
