The meetings with our staff and students took place between 8 and 17 April 2026. The joint discussions helped to familiarise the academic community with the rules for applying to Across activities and inspired active development of international cooperation.
– We want the entire academic community of Bialystok University of Technology to feel that Across is a space for them – says Assoc. Prof. Dorota Anna Krawczyk, DSc, Eng., Vice-Rector for International Cooperation. – In cooperation with our Across partners, we are laying the foundations for future projects, grants and publications. We are currently building lasting relationships that will soon yield tangible scientific and educational outcomes.
What have we achieved in 2025?
The European University Across project formally started in January 2025. The Across alliance includes universities located in medium-sized cities and border regions, as well as an associated partner: the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv from Ukraine.

– The strength of Across lies in the diversity of knowledge brought by partners from many disciplines and specialisations – emphasises Assoc. Prof. Dorota Anna Krawczyk, DSc, Eng., Vice-Rector for International Cooperation. – This enables meaningful discussions, the exchange of best practices, and the development of effective solutions. It provides unrestricted access to knowledge and supports the free mobility of the academic community.
Engagement in Across activities is not only a matter of prestige, but above all a set of concrete development opportunities. The years 2025 and 2026 have shown that we know how to take advantage of them:
- scientific and community events: we organised, among others, the International DARE Conference (Digital Architecture Research), Open Science Week, Across Students’ Fair Days, and the BUT CUP tournament with a team from an Across university
- summer schools: the international summer school of Bialystok University of Technology hosted 97 students and 34 lecturers from academic centres in 13 countries, including Across partner universities
- teaching innovations: the BIP programme was implemented (Modern Solutions in Technical Systems: Smart Home Systems and FluidSim Pneumatic System Design), bringing together students from different alliance universities
- mobility: in total, 138 people from Bialystok University of Technology travelled to Across universities, while we hosted 72 representatives from partner institutions.
2026: ambitious plans and new calls
The faculty meetings marked the beginning of an even more intensive year. Ahead of us are, among others, the InnoBuild Scientific Conference (already in May!) and a wide range of development opportunities:
- Open Access scientific publications in cooperation with alliance partners – continuous call
- funding for organising summer schools and scholarships for Bialystok University of Technology students to participate in summer schools organised by Across universities – applications until 15 May 2026
- funding for participation in Across events (doctoral conferences, hackathons and others)
- research internships at partner universities – planned call: October 2026
- study visits to Across partner universities – planned call: November 2026
- Across Teaching Awards (awards for the best micro-credentials).

- 20 October – Open Science Week
- 26–27 October – “Green Campus” Hackathon
- November – Across Students’ Fair
