On 1-2 October, Bialystok University of Technology hosted a meeting with a delegation from Tianjin Chengjian University (TCU) – our partner from China, with whom we co-create the International School of Engineering (ISE), that is training engineers at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences at Bialystok University of Technology.

– This was yet another meeting with representatives from Tianjin Chengjian University, with whom we co-create the Polish-Chinese engineering school, which has been successfully operating for several years now. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss further collaboration, including potential changes or possibly expanding education to new fields in other faculties. Currently, students are educated in the fields of civil engineering and environmental engineering at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences, – explained Assoc. Prof. Dorota Anna Krawczyk, DSc, PhD, Eng, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, who revealed plans to expand the cooperation within the ISE to include new programmes at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering. This matter is still under discussion, and completing all formalities will take time due to differences in regulations between the two countries. The new proposals aim to better prepare students for the challenges of the global job market.

The meeting at Bialystok University of Technology was attended by university authorities, the International Relations Offices of BUT, and representatives from the Centre for Polish-Chinese Cooperation, which operates at our university. Discussions focused on the successes of the existing cooperation as well as future development plans. Among the signed documents was a resolution extending the operation of the International School of Engineering until the end of 2033.

Representatives from Tianjin Chengjian University also met with their students who are just beginning their studies at Bialystok University of Technology. The meeting took place at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences. The guests had the opportunity to tour the laboratories where the ISE students will be studying in the coming months.

Thanks to the ISE initiative, 103 students from China began their studies at Bialystok University of Technology this academic year, at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences

The meeting confirmed both parties’ commitment to the development of international academic cooperation, which strengthens Bialystok University of Technology’s position as a globally recognized institution.

We have been co-creating the International School of Engineering (ISE) with our partner from China since 2013. The agreement establishing the ISE was signed in 2021. Since then, we have been jointly educating a new generation of specialists. The International School of Engineering offers bachelor’s and master’s programmes in Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering. The student exchange agreement signed in October 2023 allows for study opportunities at both Bialystok University of Technology and Tianjin Chengjian University in various faculties.
