Partnership Visit of Prof. Onyszczenko, Rector of the Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava National Technical University, at Bialystok University of Technology 26 September 2024

The meeting was attended by Assoc. Prof. Mirosław Świercz, PhD, DSc, Eng, First Deputy Rector of BUT, and Assoc. Prof. Dorota Anna Krawczyk, PhD, DSc, Eng, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation at Bialystok University of Technology. The representatives of both universities’ authorities reviewed the existing cooperation between the national university in Ukraine and the largest technical university in north-eastern Poland. They also discussed joint initiatives planned for the upcoming months ahead of the new academic year.

As of 26 September 2024, Bialystok University of Technology has 23 Ukrainian students. The majority (four students each) are enrolled in Computer Science at the Faculty of Computer Science and Tourism and Recreation at the Faculty of Engineering Management.

It is worth noting that Bialystok University of Technology and the Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava National Technical University in Ukraine share a long-standing collaboration. Its foundation is the agreement “Technical Education for the Future of Europe,” signed in 2014 by the Rectors of Higher Technical Education Institutions in Ukraine and the Rectors of Polish Technical Universities, as well as bilateral agreements.

Between Bialystok University of Technology and Yuri Kondratyuk Poltava National Technical University, a student mobility programme in English for Civil Engineering students was established. The experience gained from this initiative laid the groundwork for the launch of a double-degree programme in Civil Engineering.

The Faculty of Engineering Management also engaged in cooperation with the Poltava university, where a group of Ukrainian students completed a two-year master’s degree in Logistics.
To honour Professor Volodymyr Onyszczenko’s contribution to the creation of new, innovative platforms for collaboration between universities, Bialystok University of Technology awarded him the title of Honorary Professor of Bialystok University of Technology on 22 April 2021.
