28-11-2025
Vice-rectors, deans, academic teachers, students, and administrative staff at the Centre for Modern Education of Białystok University of Technology decorated new baubles for the university’s Christmas tree. Creativity and ingenuity knew no bounds. Of course, technological aspects were also present.
– This is the most advanced technology using gold nanocoatings, – laughs Assoc. Prof. Maciej Zajkowski, DSc, PhD, Eng., director of Technology Transfer Centre. – There are also special silver layers, and perhaps spatial structures will emerge that can reflect the potential of Bialystok University of Technology.
Our potential also lies in our creative students.
– I’ve been waiting for this day since the Facebook announcement, – says Magdalena Gierasimiuk, a second-year student at the Faculty of Engineering Management. – And for my friend, the decision to come was spontaneous. The students are already planning to personally hang the decorations on the university’s Christmas tree.
Ewelina Użyńska represents the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Centre for Modern Education.
– My friend and I enjoy making these kinds of decorations, – admits a specialist from the Faculty’s secretariat. – We are planning two baubles.
Joanna Kardasz, the library curator, holds a glue gun firmly in her hand.
– It will be a library star, – Joanna announces.
The Promotion and Communication Department of Białystok University of Technology has prepared several designs for the entire community to choose from and decorate. The Białystok University of Technology Library also supported handmade enthusiasts.
Małgorzata Ciereszko, PhD, from the English language lecturers team, is leading a practical session at a table, teaching how to decorate the university Christmas tree.
– We also have a student from China in the group, so at the same time we are introducing elements of Polish culture, decorating baubles and creating a festive atmosphere – explains Ciereszko.
Kuba Domasiewicz is pleased with such an English class. He studies Finance and Accounting Management at the Faculty of Engineering Management.
– It’s a nice change from the usual classes and a reminder that Christmas is just around the corner, – says Kuba.
An English language class is also currently attended by a group of students from the Interior Architecture study programme at the Faculty of Architecture.
– We were supposed to have a test today, but it turned out we’d be decorating Christmas baubles instead, – says Oliwia Struk happily. She has just found out that it is worth taking the bauble with her and hanging it independently on the university Christmas tree between 1 and 3 December.
The Centre for Modern Education also hosts students from the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences. This is only the first semester of the Spatial Management study programme.
– Today they have Introduction to Spatial Management – explains Aneta Sienkiewicz, PhD, Eng from the Department of Agri-Food Engineering and Environmental Management. – Students learn how to manage space effectively by making Christmas tree decorations.
The students are joined by Prof. Marek Krętowski, Vice-Rector for Science, and Assoc. Prof. Katarzyna Halicka, DSc, PhD, Eng, Vice-Rector for Education. The entire team from the Faculty of Management Engineering, led by Prof.Joanna Ejdys, the Dean of the Faculty, is also decorating their Christmas baubles.
Christmas carols are playing in the background, and everyone is already getting ready for 1–3 December 2025. We will decorate the university Christmas tree with unique decorations, handmade by us.
