Light as the motif of the jubilee

In 2025, the Faculty of Architecture at Bialystok University of Technology is celebrating its 50th anniversary. One of the artistic highlights of the jubilee is a double exhibition devoted to light at the Alfons Karny Sculpture Museum.

“The Magic of Light” by Prof. Janusz Debis

Prof. Janusz Debis, long-standing Head of the Department of Drawing, Painting, Sculpture and Interior Architecture, presented works in which light not only brings out forms, but also organises emotions and the rhythm of everyday life. His paintings encouraged guests to pause, find calm and reflect on what is fleeting yet meaningful.

– During the opening, the Museum was filled with people connected for many years with the Faculty of Architecture. The guests were welcomed by the Director of the Podlaskie Museum, Waldemar Wilczewski, and Prof. Debis, a master to many of us, became the centre of attention – says Assoc. Prof. Tatiana Misijuk, DSc, PhD, Eng, Arch, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at Bialystok University of Technology. – Two rooms filled with his works reminded us of the strong mark he left on our professional paths. It was a pleasure to meet the Professor and recall shared stories.
