Bialystok University of Technology establishes cooperation with Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture

Bialystok University of Technology and Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture have signed a cooperation agreement. The universities plan joint initiatives in the areas of science, education, and mobility of students and staff.
 

The agreement was signed by Assoc. Prof. Marta Kosior-Kazberuk, DSc, PhD, Eng., Rector of Bialystok University of Technology, and Dr Oleksandr Kovalchuk, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation at Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture.

– Our universities share similar scientific and research areas, as well as study programmes – says Dr Oleksandr Kovalchuk, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation at Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture. – We have a thriving scientific school in architecture, as well as in mechanical and materials engineering, and project management. I believe that in all these areas we can combine our strengths to move towards innovation, commercialisation, and practical education for students.

Shared goals and future plans

The agreement between Bialystok University of Technology and Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture will enable joint activities in the exchange of knowledge, implementation of inter-university research projects, and staff and student mobility.

– I consider Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture a valuable partner for us in development and innovation, particularly in the field of architecture and construction – emphasises Assoc. Prof. Marta Kosior-Kazberuk, DSc, PhD, Eng., Rector of Bialystok University of Technology. – We share common goals and have the necessary experience that makes us well-positioned to create inter-university consortia, including those involving other international partners, and to apply in the future for various international projects.

One of the first joint initiatives will be inviting students from Ukraine to take part in summer schools organised by Bialystok University of Technology. Thanks to funding from the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange, participants of the summer schools at BUT are exempt from fees and travel costs.

Further ideas include academic exchange supported by the Erasmus+ and Erasmus+UA programmes, as well as joint applications for funding under the Horizon Europe Framework Programme for Research and Innovation of the European Union.

– I believe that the Ukrainian university can also benefit from our extensive experience in obtaining funds for university projects supporting the mobility of academic teachers, students, and doctoral candidates, as well as for research and development projects at the international level – notes Assoc. Prof. Marta Kosior-Kazberuk, DSc, PhD, Eng., Rector of Bialystok University of Technology.

The agreement has been concluded for a period of 10 years.

The meeting on 15 September 2025 was also attended by, on the Ukrainian side: Prof. Oleksandr Kashchenko, DSc, PhD, Eng., Architect, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture; Olena Verenych, Head of the International Cooperation Centre; and Nataliia Lytvynenko, Director of the Communication Centre. Bialystok University of Technology was represented by Assoc. Prof. Dorota Anna Krawczyk, DSc, PhD, Eng., Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, and Agata Dziekońska, Head of the International Relations Offices.

The delegation from Kyiv visited the Bialystok University of Technology History Centre and the main campus. Working meetings were also held at the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences, the Faculty of Architecture, and the BUT Library.

Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture was established in 1930. Today, it is one of the largest universities in Ukraine.
