Bialystok University of Technology Receives Over Half a Million Euros for Staff and Student Mobility
28-10-2024
The Polish National Agency for the Erasmus+ Programme and the European Solidarity Corps (FRSE) announced the results of the call for applications submitted under ACTION 1 – Mobility of students and staff with third countries not associated with the Erasmus+ programme in the Higher Education sector (KA171-HED).
The competition committee awarded Bialystok University of Technology 526,629 euros to implement mobility projects with partner institutions from 37 countries not associated with the Erasmus+ programme. The university’s project ranks second in terms of awarded budget size. In practical terms, this funding allows for 30 outbound and 103 inbound mobilities of students, staff, and academic teachers.
These will mainly be visits from international guests and outbound academic staff mobility. This is an excellent experience for them—during their stay at partner universities, they conduct, among other things, teaching sessions and research projects, – explains Grażyna Jakimiuk, Deputy Head of the Mobility and International Agreements Unit at Bialystok University of Technology.
The project includes mobility with universities with which Bialystok University of Technology has maintained long-standing partnerships. These include academic centres in countries such as Albania, Algeria, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bhutan, Bolivia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, Georgia, Guatemala, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Mauritius, Morocco, Moldova, Nepal, Tunisia, Ukraine, the USA, Uruguay, and Uzbekistan. For the first time, the university also secured funds to develop mobility with institutions in Canada, Ghana, and Tajikistan.
The list of institutions awarded funding, announced on 15 October 2024, includes 135 public and private Polish universities.
For years, Bialystok University of Technology has distinguished itself nationally in terms of the scope of collaboration, the number of countries included in mobility funding applications, and the size of awarded budgets. Securing another round of funding for internationalisation initiatives is an undeniable success for the university, which in 2024 ranked high in the Perspektywy Higher Education Ranking—third among technical universities and sixth overall in Poland for the student exchange indicator, specifically incoming students.
International student and staff mobility contributes to the internationalisation of the largest technical university in northeastern Poland, fosters the development of new teaching methods and tools, and builds a network of connections that enhance research collaboration.
