Bialystok University of Technology in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings

On 21 January, the latest edition of the prestigious Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject was published. In this year’s ranking, Bialystok University of Technology was classified in three subject areas: Business and Economics, Computer Science, and Engineering. It should be emphasised that being classified in the ranking itself is already a great distinction.

In the Business and Economics category, a total of 1,067 universities from 91 countries and territories were evaluated, including 17 universities from Poland. Bialystok University of Technology was placed in the 801–1000 band. This is an ex aequo fourth position in Poland. The Business and Economics ranking assesses university performance in three key disciplines: business and management, accounting and finance, and economics and econometrics.

In the Computer Science category, a total of 1,165 universities from 84 countries and territories were evaluated, including 20 universities from Poland. Bialystok University of Technology was placed in the 1001+ band. The Computer Science ranking assesses university excellence in areas such as, among others: software creation and engineering, artificial intelligence and machine learning, as well as cybersecurity and networks.

In the Engineering ranking, Bialystok University of Technology was placed in the 1251+ band. In the Engineering category, a total of 1,555 universities from 98 countries and territories were evaluated, including 18 universities from Poland. The Engineering ranking assesses universities in five key disciplines: general engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical and aerospace engineering, civil engineering, and chemical engineering.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject covers 11 subject areas (Arts and Humanities, Business and Economics, Medical and Health, Computer Science, Education Studies, Engineering, Law, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Psychology, Social Sciences), indicating the best universities in the world in individual fields. The methodology takes into account both quantitative data (e.g. number of publications, citations, research employment indicators) and qualitative data (academic reputation among experts). Depending on the subject, the weighting of individual indicators may differ in order to more accurately reflect the specific nature of a given academic discipline.

The presence of Bialystok University of Technology in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject confirms its research activity and growing international recognition in key areas of education and research.
