The Peace Light of Bethlehem has reached our University. The Commander of the Bialystok Region of the Polish Scouting and Guiding Association (ZHP) presented it to the Rector of Bialystok University of Technology.

The light traveled a long way before arriving at Bialystok University of Technology. It set out from Bethlehem to Vienna, from where it was passed on to Austrian and then Slovak scouts. Our neighbors delivered it to scouts in Poland in Zakopane. From there, it made its way to Bialystok.

On 11 December 2025, the Commander of the Bialystok Region of ZHP, Scoutmaster Krzysztof Jakubowski, presented the Peace Light of Bethlehem to Dr hab. inż. Marta Kosior-Kazberuk, prof. PB, Rector of Bialystok University of Technology, in the presence of the University Authorities.

The flame from the Nativity Grotto in Bethlehem is a symbol of peace, hope, and reconciliation among nations. Since 1986, the light has embarked on an international journey, reaching communities all over the world. Now it has arrived in Bialystok and at Bialystok University of Technology.

– This year, the idea behind the Peace Light of Bethlehem is “Nurture the good within ourselves” – says Scoutmaster Krzysztof Jakubowski. – Let us share goodness, but remember that we must also have it within ourselves. We nurture it. This is important, especially in current times. This is meant to be the light of peace, the light of Christ, which will reach our Christmas Eve tables so that we can share it during this magical season.

We hope that the Peace Light of Bethlehem will also bring much good to our academic community and awaken the best in us.

From Poland, the light will continue its journey to Lithuania. In Bialystok, it can be found at the headquarters of the Bialystok Region of ZHP at 3/1 Pałacowa Street. Residents can visit to receive the Bethlehem flame. The light will also be available during a gathering in the courtyard of the Branicki Palace. On 23 December at 6:00 p.m., a bonfire will be lit, and anyone who comes with their candle can share in the Peace Light of Bethlehem.
