Students living on the University Residential Campus of Bialystok University of Technology have gained a new, friendly space for meetings. On 3 November 2025, the university inaugurated the renovated Relax Student Club on the ground floor of the Beta Student Residence Hall. It is a multifunctional area that will serve students as a place of integration, study and tranquillity.

A new place for student meetings and integration

The “Relax” Student Club had operated in the Beta Student Residence Hall since 2016. After a two-year break due to the renovation of the building, it underwent a complete transformation. In 2025 the space gained a modern, colourful design and can once again serve the academic community.

The official opening of the Club was attended by the University authorities, representatives of the administration of the University Residential Campus of Bialystok University of Technology, as well as residents of the student residence halls, including a large group of international students.

– In a new version and under the historical name – I am very happy that the “Relax” Club will again be filled with young people who need such a place for meetings, integration, rest, and also work – said Assoc. Prof. Marta Kosior-Kazberuk, DSc, PhD, Eng., Rector of Bialystok University of Technology, during the ceremony – I hope that this place will be full of life, serving all our students, including international ones. They will be the guests and at the same time the real hosts of the Club.

Student idea, university implementation

The “Relax” Student Club is located on the ground floor of the Beta Student Residence Hall. The renovation and new interior design are the result of the cooperation across the entire academic community.

– When planning the renovation, we knew that this place had to be created with the involvement of students, our residents – says Wojciech Śliwko, MSc Eng, Head of the University Residential Campus of Bialystok University of Technology. – Hence the idea to announce a competition for the interior design, which was won by residents of our university residential campus.

The winning project is the work of Valeria Chrebiń and Uliana Kozłowska, students of interior architecture programme at the Faculty of Architecture of Bialystok University of Technology.

– When creating the project, I focused on the comfort of users. I would very much like everyone who enters here to find a spot for themselves while being part of a shared space connecting everyone. That is why you can sit here in a comfortable armchair or on sofas, as well as at a large table or at a single-person desk – explains Valeria Chrebiń, co-author of the interior design.

The new “Relax” Student Club is a place distinguished by harmony and functionality. Several zones have been created here, interestingly separated by colour and the arrangement of furniture. The aesthetics are complemented by a colourful graphic on one of the walls, designed and created by Radosław Górski, PhD, Eng. Arch. from the Department of Design Arts at the Faculty of Architecture of Bialystok University of Technology. Notably, most of the built-in furniture was made by the University’s carpenters.

The interior design is perfectly suited to the needs of today’s students: it encourages integration but also provides places for individual quiet time. The space is well lit and equipped with access to the Internet.

Comfort and innovations in the student residence halls of Bialystok University of Technology

The opening of the “Relax” Club is part of a broader strategy to improve living standards in the student residence halls of Bialystok University of Technology. Recently, new sliding doors facilitating access for persons with disabilities have been installed in the Beta and Delta Student Residence Halls. In the Gamma Student Residence Hall the entrance hall has been modernised: a comfortable space for rest and work has been created and a coffee station has been installed. Moreover, modern, well-equipped laundries have been launched in all five student residence halls of Bialystok University of Technology.

The “Relax” Student Club is open daily until 22:00. Every student of Bialystok University of Technology can use it, which only confirms that the University cares not only about academic development, but also about the comfort, integration and well-being of its community.

We warmly encourage students of Bialystok University of Technology to make use of the new space.
