Bialystok University of Technology in the Times Higher Education Ranking – 2026 Edition

Bialystok University of Technology has been included for the fourth time in one of the most prestigious and recognisable university rankings in the world – the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026.
 

This year’s edition assessed 2,191 universities from around the globe – 99 more than the previous year. Bialystok University of Technology maintained its position in the 1501+ band, which places it in a joint 6th position among Polish universities. The university also improved its overall score, achieving 10.3–27.2 points (for comparison: in the previous edition – 10.5–25.1 points).

In the 2026 ranking, 42 Polish universities were listed, with another three gaining the “Reporter” status. The highest-ranked Polish universities are Jagiellonian University and Wrocław Medical University (band 501–600), followed by the University of Warsaw (band 601–800).

For over a decade, the University of Oxford has remained the undisputed leader of the ranking. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) ranked second, while Princeton University advanced to third place, sharing it with the University of Cambridge.

The Times Higher Education ranking is based on 18 indicators grouped into five areas: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, Industry Collaboration and International Outlook. Year by year, Bialystok University of Technology has been improving its results in the International Outlook category, increasing its score from 22 in the 2023 edition to 27.6 in 2026.

Among Polish universities, the leader in the Teaching and Research Environment criteria is Jagiellonian University, which achieved 43.8 and 33.6 points respectively (the maximum score in each criterion is 100). In the Research Quality area, Wrocław Medical University leads with 76.5 points, while the AGH University of Science and Technology consistently tops the Industry Collaboration category (71.6 points). In the final criterion, International Outlook, SWPS University once again achieved the highest position (49.4 points).
