Bialystok University of Technology in the Prestigious Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2025

Bialystok University of Technology once again secured high positions in the prestigious Times Higher Education Impact Rankings! The university achieved the 5th best result among Polish universities and was ranked in the 1001–1500 bracket globally.

In this year’s seventh edition of THE Impact Rankings, a total of 2,318 universities from 130 countries were evaluated, including 25 institutions from Poland.

Our university submitted its performance for assessment in six thematic areas (SDGs). A new challenge was taking on SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy, where we achieved the highest result in Poland (tied with Gdansk University of Technology) and ranked in the 301–400 bracket globally (out of 1,181 evaluated institutions).

We recorded a significant global improvement in SDG 13 – Climate Action – moving up from the 601–800 bracket to the 401–600 bracket among 1,089 institutions worldwide. At the same time, BUT achieved the 3rd best result among Polish universities (tied with Gdansk University of Technology and the University of Gdansk).

We also significantly improved our position in SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, moving up from the 601–800 group to the 401–600 group, among 2,389 institutions globally. Bialystok University of Technology achieved the 4th best result in Poland (tied with Silesian University of Technology).

It is worth highlighting that Bialystok University of Technology received the maximum score for the criterion “Publication of SDG report”, which reflects our commitment to and transparency in sustainable development efforts.

Other results are as follows:

SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation: ranked in the 401–600 group (out of 1,042 institutions worldwide), 2nd best in Poland (tied with the University of Gdansk and the Warsaw University of Life Sciences);
SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities: ranked in the 401–600 group (out of 1,154 institutions worldwide), 4th best in Poland (tied with the Maritime University of Szczecin);
SDG 15 – Life on Land: ranked in the 401–600 group (out of 854 institutions worldwide), 3rd best in Poland.

The national leader in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings was Gdansk University of Technology, while the global leader was Western Sydney University.

The Times Higher Education Impact Rankings is the only global ranking that assesses higher education institutions based on their contribution to the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted by UN Member States under the “Transforming our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development” programme. Bialystok University of Technology participated in the ranking for the second time. The overall ranking is based on 17 individual rankings focused on each of the 17 SDGs and uses a diverse methodology that considers not only research output but also practical actions and institutional policies.

Bialystok University of Technology’s presence in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings confirms our engagement in achieving the global Sustainable Development Goals and is a significant recognition at the international level. It also serves as motivation for further action towards a better and more sustainable world.
