Bialystok University of Technology in the Eye of Europe report and on the map of the European Research Area
09-10-2024
Eye of Europe is a project funded by the European Union. Its aim is to create and develop a platform for cooperation among experts in foresight and innovation policy.
The project integrates and strengthens the research and innovation foresight (R&I) community in Europe through the Futures4Europe platform, which serves as a repository for projects, outcomes, educational materials, and a communication hub for current activities and events.
The report titled A Stocktaking of R&I Foresight Practices in Europe presents an overview of diverse and innovative research and innovation (R&I) foresight practices in the European Research Area (ERA) and their impact on innovation policymaking.
The document is based on a comprehensive survey conducted among 43 R&I foresight organisations across 16 ERA countries and four non-ERA countries. The results were supplemented by interviews with renowned national foresight experts.
The presence of Bialystok University of Technology in this report is a testament to the international recognition enjoyed by the foresight research school, founded and developed by Professor Joanicjusz Nazarko, which operates at the Faculty of Engineering Management at Bialystok University of Technology. The work of this school has produced numerous expert analyses and research and educational projects (for example, NT FOR Podlaskie 2020, the Evaluation Study of Foresight Projects Carried Out in Poland, beFORE, and FUTURES). For the past year, the university has also been home to the Team for Foresight and Interdisciplinary Research, which integrates all scientific disciplines at the university around methods of systematic reflection on the future of technology, the economy, society, and the environment.
