Bialystok University of Technology awarded the Quality Label of the European Solidarity Corps
08-05-2024
Our university has obtained all possible accreditations: as a hosting organization, supporting institution, and Lead Organisation in European Solidarity Corps volunteer projects. The acquisition of the Quality Label has confirmed that we meet all the standards of the ESC Programme and provide young people with the opportunity to participate in high-quality projects with a strong solidarity dimension, in line with the values and objectives of the European Solidarity Corps.
Bialystok University of Technology joined the ESC Programme due to two important developmental goals of the university: internationalization of BUT and implementation of sustainable development policy, particularly the “My Green University” programme.
As the Leader of the planned projects, we plan to engage young people in volunteer projects related to environmental protection, sustainable development, and climate action. The added value will be addressing social needs and challenges.
The initial plans include organizing short-term projects twice a year (in spring and autumn) in teams of up to 12 volunteers, partly due to coordination capabilities and a beneficial division into smaller groups. In the future, these activities may be expanded to include long-term projects. The coordination of activities within the ESC Programme will be the responsibility of the International Relations Offices of Bialystok University of Technology, the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences, and representatives of other faculties of the university.
The European Solidarity Corps is a programme of the European Commission that allows young people to participate in international volunteering projects and get involved in local initiatives. Participation in the programme is accompanied by funding for short-term (2 months) and long-term (from 2 to 12 months) volunteering activities in Poland and abroad.
