Architecture field of study offered at the Faculty of Architecture of Bialystok University of Technology has received KAUT European accreditation

07-05-2024
This is a great success for the Faculty of Architecture of Bialystok University of Technology and fantastic news for its students and prospective candidates! The Architecture programme has been accredited by KAUT, along with the European Quality Certificate EUR-ACE® Label for the next 5 years.

The evaluation and visitation of the Architecture programme at the Faculty of Architecture of Bialystok University of Technology took place in December 2023. During the session of the Accreditation Commission of Universities of Technology on 26 April 2024, at Gdynia Maritime University, the members of the Commission, after reviewing the report from the evaluation team, decided to grant accreditation to the Architecture programme, conducted at both undergraduate and graduate levels, for a period of 5 years (2024-2029). The decision was unanimous!

– It’s worth noting that this is the first accreditation for the Faculty of Architecture. This is a great achievement and distinction because currently, only four technical universities in the country have accreditations for this programme. Congratulations are due to the authorities and staff of the faculty, especially to the team that prepared the Self-Assessment Report. Everyone put in a tremendous amount of work to ensure that the Architecture programme at Bialystok University of Technology is conducted at a sufficiently high engineering level, said Assoc. Prof. Agnieszka Dardzińska-Głębocka, DSc, PhD, Vice-Rector for Education at Bialystok University of Technology and a member of the Polish Accreditation Committee and the Accreditation Commission of Universities of Technology.

The Accreditation Commission of Universities of Technology, in its evaluation of the Architecture programme at the Faculty of Architecture of Bialystok University of Technology, paid particular attention to the support provided by the Faculty to its students, both in terms of teaching and gaining initial professional experience.

– The Faculty can boast well-documented and extensive cooperation with institutions from the socio-economic environment. As a result, interesting projects are developed, and new concepts emerge, including student proposals for solutions to various architectural challenges. These can be used as they are or as inspiration for local governments or industry investors. The opportunity for students to present their work within the Student Gallery of the Faculty of Architecture was also appreciated, added Assoc. Prof. Agnieszka Dardzińska-Głębocka, DSc, PhD, Vice-Rector for Education at BUT.

It should be emphasized that unlike most European countries, in Poland, the Architecture programme has been assigned to engineering and technical sciences. The request in this matter made by the Accreditation Commission of Universities of Technology was supported by the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE), which awards the prestigious EUR-ACE® Label certificate.

This is an exceptional document! The EUR-ACE® Label certificate confirms that the accredited engineering education programme has undergone an evaluation process created by the most important European engineering organizations affiliated with the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE). These include the British Engineering Council (EngC), the French Commission des Titres d’Ingénieur (CTI), ENGINEERS EUROPE – EE, Sociéte Européenne pour la Formation des Ingénieurs (SEFI), and The International Society for Engineering Pedagogy (IGIP). In Poland, the European quality certificate EUR-ACE® Label is awarded by the Accreditation Commission of Universities of Technology (KAUT).

The KAUT accreditation and the accompanying EUR-ACE® Label certificate confirm that the education process in the Architecture programme at the Faculty of Architecture of Bialystok University of Technology complies with the best European standards established by professional organizations associated with engineering education.

For our students and prospective candidates at the Faculty of Architecture of BUT, this is an important assurance of high-quality education. EUR-ACE® certificates are recognized in all EU countries and confirm the compliance of a study programme with the standards and principles adopted in Europe. Graduates of accredited programmes can apply for registration with ENGINEERS EUROPE – EE in countries with regulated engineering professions and obtain the Euroengineer certificate.

Congratulations to the Faculty of Architecture on obtaining such a prestigious certificate!

Architecture is now the 12th study programme at Bialystok University of Technology to receive accreditation from KAUT and the EUR-ACE® Label certificate.
