Symposium „Universities as Change Agents in Sustainable Development”

For those scholars interested in exploring the theme ’Universities as Change Agents in Sustainable Development’, we invite you to apply to attend the symposium on this theme that will be held at Tallinn University on 18-19 March 2026. The event is organised by two of the BUP National Centers at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences and Tallinn University, in collaboration with the BUP. Accepted presenters affiliated with a BUP participating university may apply for a grant to cover the participation fee. The deadline to submit an abstract is 15 December 2025. The Estonian Business School shares an invitation to register to attend the DefHack: Resilience Edition 

The goal of this hackathon is to allow participants to further develop their idea or technology and apply it in real-world scenarios. The event will take place on 12-14 December 2025 at the Estonian Business School.

Focus will be on: Innovative solutions for material reuse, circular supply chain design, product redesign, and environmentally sustainable disposal methods in the defence sector.

At the event, experts from both the defence sector (including the Ministry of Defence, Estonian Defence Forces, the Estonian Defence League and defence companies) and the civilian sector (including universities, colleges, and IT companies) will come together to create and advance circularity solutions which make defence-related processes faster, more efficient, and more reliable.

The hackathon ends with a pitch session, where participants present their ideas and receive feedback from leading experts in defence and business development. 

The deadline to register to attend is 3 December 2025.
