Summer Schools at the Bialystok University of Technology

27-06-2025

The goal of the VIPSKILLS and GLOCAL Summer School is to introduce participants to methods of reducing energy consumption, maintaining appropriate thermal comfort and indoor air quality, as well as to familiarize them with the city’s blue-green infrastructure and green building solutions (such as green roofs) that contribute to improving the urban climate.

The program agendas can be found at the bottom of the page.

The course is intended for international Bachelor’s and Master’s students from European universities (Architecture, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Energy Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building and Architectural Structures) who are interested in the design of low-energy and environmentally friendly buildings. To achieve these goals, during on-site classes students will explore current solutions in the field of sustainable construction. For HVAC system design, they will use modern software in English. Participants will also use an English-language catalog of selected plant species for application in urban public spaces and on rooftops.

The program also includes lectures and practical workshops led by representatives of companies using pro-environmental technologies (e.g., KAN-therm, FPP Enviro). In the afternoons, students will take part in cultural activities aimed at familiarizing them with the history, culture, and architecture of Białystok, as well as in sports and outdoor games organized on campus.

The aim of the Summer School „Building a Sustainable and Diverse Team” is to develop the knowledge, skills, and social competences necessary to create effective, diverse, and sustainable teams.

The course is addressed to both Polish and international students and young researchers interested in intercultural collaboration, sustainable development, and modern teamwork methods. The program consists of four thematic modules that innovatively combine perspectives from sports, computer science, social sciences, and permaculture. Participants will have the opportunity not only to expand their theoretical knowledge but, most importantly, to gain practical skills in intercultural team collaboration, conflict resolution, and designing local initiatives for sustainable development. The workshops will be conducted by experts from various fields, and the interactive, hands-on format will foster integration, exchange of experiences, and the development of social competences.
