NAWA Projects
Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) is set up to coordinate state activities driving the process of internationalization of Polish academic and research institutions. The mission of NAWA is to foster the development of Poland in the area of science and higher education.
Ongoing projects

The main objective of the project is to organize and maintain a place dedicated to support foreign students and staff at BUT, the so-called Welcome Centre, which will strengthen the image of our university as attractive to foreigners, not only because of the educational offer, but also because of the open, friendly academic community, where care is taken to integrate people. As part of the Welcome Center’s activities, it is planned, among other things, to create information spots on the formalities of staying at the university and in Poland, to organize tours around Bialystok, cultural and integration events and culinary workshops on Polish cuisine for foreigners, and to update PB’s promotional materials in English. It is also planned to provide transportation for foreign students from Warsaw to Bialystok at the beginning of each semester, and to set up a multimedia information stand next to the International Relations Office.
The project will improve the quality of service to students and foreign guests, expand their knowledge of Polish culture, perceive the city and the country as a friendly and attractive place to live, which will contribute to building a positive image of the University on the international arena, and in time will affect a greater number of student mobility and members of academic community from foreign institutions.
The project is financed from Welcome to Poland Programme budget.

The main objective of the project is to develop sustainable solutions for scientific cooperation as part of a strategic partnership between the Faculty of Management Engineering of the Białystok University of Technology and the Universidad de Sevilla. The specific objective is to build the international potential of JMA BUT by promoting the latest research results of a high scientific level and significant for business.
The key results of the project are: organization of international scientific seminars and a scientific conference, conducting classes for students, development of a scientific monograph and articles in renowned journals.
The project is coordinated by the Białystok University of Technology and implemented in cooperation with a Spanish partner – Universidad de Sevilla. The project is financed under the Strategic Partnerships program, NAWA.
Completed projects
PROM 2019 – International scholarship exchange of PhD candidates and academic staff
Project duration: October 2019 – June 2023
Project budget: 1 194 130,00 PLN
The project is implemented as part of the project “International scholarship exchange of PhD candidates and academic staff” under the Operational Programme Knowledge Education Development co-financed by the European Social Fund.
The main objective of the project is to improve the competence of PhD candidates and academic staff of BUT, as well as to improve the quality of doctoral dissertations by internationalization of the process of their preparation.
The strategic goal of the project is to continue the University Scholarship Programme to finance short-term trips / arrivals of PhD candidates and academic PROM Project Service Office – International scholarship exchange for PhD candidates and academic staff as part of cooperation between BUT and foreign universities, that was established thanks to the financing received within the PROM 2018 Programme.
Interdisciplinary International Summer School
Project duration: September 2021 – August 2024
Project budget: 523 945,00 PLN
The project will be implemented by the staff of the Faculty of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Faculty of Computer Science.
Academic teachers will have the opportunity to improve their qualifications during a course for teaching staff and participate in a technical visit. 24 foreign students will take part in an international summer school, combining full-time classes at the Bialystok University of Technology with remote work. Specialists from foreign universities will join the didactic process. During study visits to industry companies students will be able to gain practical knowledge.
The project also gives the opportunity to promote our region, its architectural, cultural, historal and natural attractions, and also as a area of implementing modern technologies, environmentally friendly in the construction industry.

The Project is implemented within the SPINAKER Programme – International Intensive Programmes run by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA). It provides for the organization of a summer school – “Biometrics – intelligent solutions”.
PROM 2018 – International scholarship exchange of PhD candidates and academic staff
Project duration: October 2018 – September 2019
Project budget: 636 125,00 PLN
The aim of the project was to create a financial support for scholarship exchange programmes addressed to PhD students and academic staff. These programmes enabled participation in short forms of education (lasting from 5 to 30 days) aimed at improving competences and qualifications. The project has improved the accessibility of international educational programmes and increased the mobility of staff both.
Study at BUT. Together we achieve more!
Project duration: December 2018 – October 2020
Project budget: 214 833,00 PLN
The implementation of the project aimed to provide training support for teaching, research and administrative staff in the area of management, intercultural and communication skills as well as increasing the institution’s potential in admitting students and staff from abroad.
Akcja-Integracja
Project duration: May 2022 – April 2023
Project budget: 127 301,30 PLN
The project implementation is aided to strengthen the image of our university as attractive to foreigners, not only because of the educational offer, but also because of the open, friendly academic community, which cares about interpersonal integration. In 2022-2023, a series of workshops and training sessions for foreign students will be organized, as well as integration activities in international groups.
Promotion of full-time studies for students from Turkey and India
Project duration: October 2019 – March 2021
Project budget: 98 349,00 PLN
The main objectives of the project: attracting students to study full-time in English at BUT, increasing the level of internationalisation of studies, promoting BUT, especially in Turkey and India.
The results of the project: participation in Net Global Conference Warsaw, conducting Facebook Ads campaign, producing promotional materials (brochures, guides, gadgets).
