Electronic Student ID (ELS)

The Electronic Student Card (ELS) was introduced by the Regulation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of 29 August 2025 amending the Regulation on higher education studies (Journal Of Laws of 2025 No. 224, item 1220).

The ELS takes the form of a plastic card with an integrated contact and contactless electronic chip. Its graphic design is standardised across all universities and defined in the above-mentioned regulation.It contains: a photo, personal data, the expiry date of the document, confirmed by a small hologram and a visible indication of the student’s entitlement to reductions.

According to the regulation, the ID serves as an official document confirming student status. In addition, it may function as a library card and a public transport card.

The Faculty Dean’s Offices are responsible for the general handling of Electronic Student IDs (ELS).
