What Is the Forest Telling Us? event
13-05-2026
On 11 May, as part of the Podlaski Festival of Science and Art, the event “What Is the Forest Telling Us?” took place at the Foreign Language Centre (SJO). The meeting brought together students, staff, and guests interested in contemporary environmental challenges and opportunities for civic engagement in Europe.
The event opened with a presentation on the current challenges facing forests in Poland, including climate change, biodiversity loss, and the complex role forests play in modern society. Participants had the opportunity to learn how scientific knowledge, sustainable forest management, and public awareness can work together to protect forest ecosystems.
The second part of the event focused on the European Solidarity Corps (ESC). Participants were introduced to the idea of solidarity projects, volunteering, and local initiatives supported by the European Union. Special attention was given to how ESC projects can help address environmental issues, promote forest education, and support community-based activities.
Call for Action for ACROSS Partners
We strongly encourage our ACROSS partners and associated organisations to explore the opportunities offered by the European Solidarity Corps and to develop their own solidarity projects.
A solidarity project can be created by a group of at least five young people aged 18–30 and may focus on topics such as:
- environmental protection and sustainability,
- forest education and climate awareness,
- community engagement and local development.
More information and application guidelines are available on the official ESC website:
