Sustainable Regional Development of the Baltic Sea Region – a Student Perspective

29-01-2026

A mini-exhibition has been set up in the Foreign Language Centre, presenting the effects of students’ work to the broader university community, aimed at drawing attention to the subject of the Baltic University Programme.

The displayed posters were created as part of lectures and interdisciplinary workshops dedicated to the topic of Sustainable Regional Development of the Baltic Sea Region (BSR), carried out within the framework of the Baltic University Programme (BUP). The starting point for the project work was an analysis of the sustainable development of the Baltic Sea Region from the perspective of one of the countries within its area, with particular emphasis on energy and technology.

During the classes, students addressed topics including, among others, the economic, social, and environmental conditions of selected countries in the region, the challenges they face, and examples of environmentally friendly actions and projects. An important element of the work was also identifying major organizations and initiatives engaged in developing sustainable solutions in the Baltic Sea Region.

The workshops culminated in an attempt to answer the question of what joint actions and solutions could be undertaken by all countries in the region to develop the Baltic Sea in a responsible and sustainable way. The resulting posters represent an original interpretation of these issues and serve as an example of how global and regional topics can be analysed from a student perspective and presented within an academic setting.

The students’ posters are on display in the FLC corridor on the 2nd floor (CNK building) and in room P2/16.
