Santa’s Language Week – Join the “Show Your Festive Jumper” Photo Challenge!
26-11-2024We invite all students and staff of our university to take part in a unique holiday event! From December 2 to 6, we’re collecting your photos of the most original, funniest, or most outrageously tacky Festive jumpers. Let’s create a gallery full of festive spirit and humor together!
How to participate?
- Take a photo in your Festive jumper – the more creative, the better!
During our language workshops on December 2-3, from 10 AM to 2 PM, you’ll have the chance to take a festive-themed photo at the Foreign Language Centre stand in CNK – don’t miss it! - Submit your photo by December 6, 12 PM via the form on our website (you’ll find it below).
- On December 6 (St. Nicholas Day), we’ll post all the photos on our Facebook page.
The authors of the photos with the most interactions will receive small gifts! Voting will close on December 9 at 9 AM, and we’ll announce the winners shortly afterward.
A bit of Festive jumper history
Festive sweaters have become a tradition! Initially associated with handmade gifts from grandmothers, they quickly gained popularity in pop culture. In the early 1980s, thanks to movies and TV shows, they became symbols of holiday humor and family warmth. Since then, their popularity has soared – there are even international competitions for the ugliest Festive jumper, and the third Friday of December is celebrated as National Ugly Festive jumper Day! In English-speaking countries, these events are often tied to charity collections – and we’re doing the same by collecting donations and gifts for the Szlachetna Paczka (Noble Gift) initiative throughout Santa’s Language Week.
In our contest, perfection isn’t the goal – the more eccentric and unique your sweater, the better! Be part of this fun activity and show us that holiday cheer can be expressed in all sorts of creative ways.
Join us and let’s fill our university (and the Internet!) with festive humor and positive energy.
