Information meeting on the Fulbright scholarship offer
25-05-2023On 19 May 2023, an information meeting on the Fulbright Program was held in the BUT Foreign Language Centre.
Our guest was Justyna Maziarska-Lesisz, Senior Program Officer, representative of the Polish-U.S. Fulbright Commission. The opening speech was given by Assoc. Prof. Marta Kosior-Kazberuk, DSc, PhD, Eng, Rector of Bialystok University of Technology. Justyna Maziarska-Lesisz talked about the opportunities for research and teaching staff and doctoral students to get the US scholarship under the programs: Junior Research Award 2024-25, Fulbright Research Award at Stanford University School of Medicine 2024-25, Senior Award 2024-25 and STEM Impact Award 2023-24. She presented terms and conditions of participation in the scholarship programs and encouraged applications.
After Ms. Maziarska’s presentation, the currect Fulbright grantees who came to us from Szczecin, Bydgoszcz, Cracow, Lublin and several other institutions, talked about their experiences from their almost year-long stay at Polish universities. They are English Teaching Assistants, who teach language classes in Poland to university staff and students, elementary and high school students, and engage in local community activities promoting English language learning and the culture of their country.
In the 2022/23 academic year, two U.S. grantees are in Bialystok – Meghan Ludke at Bialystok Technical University and Daniel Breslow at the University of Bialystok.
In addition to an open information session regarding the possibility of participation in the Fulbright Program, the Foreign Language Centre hosted a meeting of the American grantees with Assoc. Prof. Dorota Anna Krawczyk, DSc, PhD, Eng, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation of BUT, and a meeting of the grantees and our staff with Ms. Maziarska from the Fulbright Commission.
