Guide Dogs for the Blind and Visually Impaired People

Meeting for people who would like to have a guide dog

As a part of the “Building a Comprehensive System of Training and Making guide dogs available to the blind, and the rules of its financing” project (pl. „Budowa kompleksowego systemu szkolenia i udostępniania osobom niewidomym psów przewodników oraz zasad jego finansowania”), the Polish Association of the Blind organises meetings for the blind and visually impaired people who would like to have a guide dog.

We invite all the blind and visually impaired people interested in owning a guide dog to Zoom meetings, during which they will learn about:

• the ownership of a guide dog and its role in the life of a blind person;
• the possibilities that come with owning a guide dog;
• legal aspects concerning guide dogs;
• what you need to do to become an owner of a guide dog;
• the responsibilities that come with owning a guide dog;
• why standards are being developed and what can be gained with their implementation.

The participants will also watch an interesting video with audio description, in which people with guide dogs share their own experiences.

If you are interested, please apply by emailing ioptulowicz@pzn.org.pl. Also, remember to sign your application with your full name. The estimated time of a meeting is about 2 hours. The participants will be notified about the time of the meetings individually.
