Foreign Language Song Contest

On May 21 the Gwint club hosted the participants of the 4th Foreign Language Song Contest organized by our Foreign Language Centre. This year, apart from Polish students, we could also listen to contestants from Ukraine and Ghana. The event was graced by the presence of Professor Marta Kosior-Kazberuk. The Jury, chaired by Wioletta Omelianiuk, assessed both artistic values and linguistic correctness of the performed songs. The most valuable prizes for the winners were funded by Jagiellonia. Helios Cinema funded cinema tickets. Additional awards were granted by the organizers and the International Short Film Festival Żubroffka.

List of winners:
1st place Julia Topór and Małgorzata Rudnik for extraordinary stage chemistry and moving interpretation for two voices of “Million Reasons” by Lady Gaga
2nd place Karolina Polkowska for close to the original voice timbre, endearing smile and uninhibited performance of “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele
3rd place Barbara Kuc for poetic and committed performance of the traditional song “Dorogoy Dlinnoyu” with the guitar

Special mentions:
Paweł Kaczmarczyk for imaginative interpretation of Justin Bieber’s “Love Yourself”
Kacper Jermacz and Szymon Truszkowski for spontaneously performed “Lady” by Modjo.

Albina Shtanko for moving performance of “Mama” by Elena Esenina
