The main research interests focus on the heat transfer, both in dynamic and steady state conditions, in system and devices for energy applications. Recent research activities were mainly devoted to heat pumps and to their role in the decarbonization process. Particular attention was paid to optimization aspects, economic analysis, comfort conditions, CO2 emissions, control strategies. Experimental activities were performed as well.
The research topics are focused on steady state and transient heat transfer phenomena in devices employed in civil and industrial applications. The main research activity concerns developing and applying numerical models for solving heat and mass transfer phenomena. Several studies arose from the problem list cited in the European directives on energy performance in buildings.
The research field covers energy efficient buildings, the problems of designing, construction and use of low energy housing, the development of modern, zero-energy buildings with high energy performance as well as thermomodernization of buildings. The (co) author of chapters in several scientific monographs or books and above 80 papers in international and national journals.
